I would like to make dashi from both ingredients, does anyone have a good recipe for this? Also, where would a great place online to buy both be? I have found a few spots that sell them, but no carry both at the same time. I would like to limit my purchase to one place, thx!

I have found 2 recipes, one of them uses just Konbu but has a tip on how to handle Konbu before boiling the water, so I posted it. First recipe uses both Bonito & Konbu.

#1
Ingredients:
6 cm Dried Kelp (Konbu)
50 gms Bonito Flakes
1 ltr Water

Preparation :
Clean kelp with a moist cloth, place in a saucepan with the water. Bring to a boil.
Remove kelp, add bonito and remove pan from heat.
When the flakes sink to the bottom strain and set aside for future use.

#2
Wipe the konbu with clean cloth to remove dirt. (Konbu shouldn't be washed.) Soak the konbu in the water in a pot for one to two hours. Put on low heat and bring the water to boil. Just before the water comes to a boil, remove the konbu. Now, you have a vegetarian soup stock for your cooking.
Makes 4 servings

This store carries both ingredients and other Japanese food, I have ordered from them many times and satisfied with their service.
