Begin/start to like??

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, and have been learning Japanese for three years (four at the end of new year).
I was just wondering how to express the phrase "I began to like xx?"
The usual pattern is verb (in masu stem form) + 始めます isn't it?
So:
この本を読み始めました。
means "I've started reading this book."
So how would you say, for example:
"I've started to like Japanese fashion"?

好きになった
好きなようになった
好むようになった
好みはじめた

好きになってきた

and
好きになり始めた

I doubt that fear has anything to do with it. Toritoribe has corrected my errors before. That is something which is actually useful to myself and others, unlike merely pointing them out,

Dunno why you seem to show up mainly when you want to be critical of the way the other native speakers choose to interact with the gaijins.

A hundred and fifty posts in six and a half years, you're not exactly knocking yourself out to be helpful around here. Those two show up and put in a hell of a lot of work trying to help others learn. You mostly show up to gripe about how they do it, which is pretty damned useless and pathetic.

By the way, you forgot "the" before "OP".

I think it's wrong to criticize Toritoribe because I agree that he is helpful to the degree where I almost feel guilty to post questions. This help is much appreciated by me and many others though I'm sure.

I do think masaegu has a point however when it comes to non-native speakers overestimating their own ability in the japanese language. I have no illusions about my own ability but I know enough, as well as two additional languages, to dare say many westerners seem to measure japanese proficiency by a totally different standard than what is the case with other languages.
I have also seen quite a few native english speakers married to swedish people who even after 20-30 years in the country still cannot speak proper swedish (although they mostly understand when spoken to), alongside spanish supposedly the number one easiest language in the world to learn for most westerners.
Japanese on the other hand is frequently rated as one of the top 5 most difficult languages in the world for indoeuropean language speakers to learn and yet there seems to be no end to the foreigners more or less bragging about their own ability while repeatedly making basic mistakes.
This western arrogance can very well be seen as a form of modern colonialist mentality. It brings to mind the scene from an episode of "The Simpsons" where Sideshow Bob is trying to teach native italians the correct italian pronounciation.

I've seen this used quite often for the same meaning that you are looking for.

I didn't notice that he made that point in his post, so it would appear you are just using his post as a mask for posting your own opinion about me. I assure you I am very well aware of my shortcomings in the Japanese language. My errors are many and frequent. I have never claimed otherwise.

I figured based on other posts where he directly criticizes gaijin overconfidence that the criticism towards the other native speakers must be related to this also, therefore he does have a point when addressing the problem directly instead of when using Toritoribe as an excuse.

Ah, of course- it would use the "become" stem form.
