Well my travel agent confirmed with me that I am getting tickets to see a baseball game in Yokohama, I will be seeing the Baystars. Its just really neat to me to be able to watch baseball in another country. I have been to Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Veteran's Stadium, Toronto Skydome, and Turner Field, so now I will be able to add Yokohama Park to the mix.

April is just not coming fast enough for me.

I never went to see the Baystars, despite having lived one stop away from the stadium for 6 months or so...

I did get out to the Seibu Dome during inter-league play to see the Lions host the Tigers at some point, which was a lot of fun, and I went to a couple of Rakuten games in Sendai back in August...
I have a feeling I'll be attending a lot more Eagles games pretty soon.

Baseball games in Japan are a lot of fun, so I hope you fully enjoy it!

I've only been to Tokyo Dome (for concerts, actually... )

In North America, I've been to the baseball stadiums in Montreal and Toronto (forgot their names), Fenway and Dodger Stadium. Missed an opportunity to go to Yankee Stadium!

A little trivia on Yokohama Stadium (from someone who grew up in Yokohama):
Yokohama Stadium stands on property that was once a baseball and cricket field for foreigners in the Meiji Period. The old stadium and surrounding property were taken over after WWII by the US miliary forces.
The property, along with many other properties in the city, was returned to the Japanese owners and municipal government in the 1970s, and Yokohama Stadium was built in 1978.

I remember the very small stadium that stood there (before Yokohama Stadium) and heard that many home runs used to fly out of it and into the streets, sometimes into the canal on the other side of the street. (The canal is no longer there.)
- Mumblings of an old-timer reminiscing time long gone...
 
Be sure to bring some food with you. Unlike in the US, you can bring food/drink into Japanese games. Stop by the store for a bento box and bring it in.

If J-League is in session, I suggest a soccer game as well. They aren't as interesting as baseball games (the experience, not the sport - the sport of soccer is much more entertaining IMO) but still fun.

Also, if you get a yearning to see more baseball, it's easy to walk up to the gate and get tickets. Heck, a few years ago I just walked up and got a ticket for the US-Japan Series in Tokyo.

Tigermilk: Just wanted to ask why I need to bring food with me, do the baseball stadiums not sell food in the park? I don't care if its expensive, because thats one of the joys to going to a ballpark is to eat the food

epigene: I love history so I am really happy to go and think about all the stuff you mentioned about the park.

Because you can! They have food, but you'll see quite a few families bring in food. Try that at a MLB park.
 
Ah I see where you were going now tigermilk. You cant even bring in a cooler of water into a US park.
 
The convenience stores in the ballparks, however, have assisted the ballparks in a minor conspiracy. They won't sell any beer in the shops right next to the park!!
You can bring beer in but you have to pour it into cups provided by the staff, and if you like your beer cold, I guess you gotta get it in the stadium...
 
That goes for any drink. I was wondering why I had to pour my Coke into a cup. Trash is trash, and in reality I'm generating more trash by using a cup and bottle. Nonetheless, Japanese games are great to be at. The stadiums are clean and the fans orderly.

Ah well I will more than likely buy everything in the ballpark. Does anyone know if they have ball park guides for Japanese ball parks? I am just trying to figure out if they sell souveneers in the park, and what the best thing to eat, etc.

I know how you feel. I am going to see the Red Sox play the Hanshin Tigers at Tokyo Dome later this month and I am so excited I can hardly sleep!
I used to see the Sox at least once a month at Fenway Park back when I lived there and there is nothing like catching a ballgame at a ballpark.
I hope you'll have fun at the game. As for your profile picture? Nah, I shouldn't get into that.

I am sure you are loving being able to see the Sox play in Japan, that would be really neat. I still love the whole Yankee/Sox rivilry. I live down south now, but I grew up in Massachusetts, and man was I hit hard by friends since I was a Yankee fan. I am a Pats fan too and they told me that was my redeeming quality lol.

Of course anytime the Yankees lose to the Sox, or the Sox with the WS... I get calls all night long ~_~

As for Kei Igawa... I still have faith, I live under principle you can't hate someone on your own team.
 
Mets for the World Series

BlueThunderKuno, if you get the chance then try to catch a game at Tokyo Dome. I was lucky enough to see Hanshin v Giants two nights in a row a couple of years back (got tickets on the day even for a big draw like that). The atmosphere is incredible, amplified by being in an enclosed area. Whether the energy of the crowed was because of the great rivalry I don't know. I expect that they are pretty worked up for most games.

Thats pretty sweet Amos. Unfortunatly we won't have a lot of time in Tokyo. My fiance wants to go to PuroLand, and we have a guide for one day. I am sure this wont be my last time in Japan though, id like to go on a baseball tour in Japan someday.
