Argh Decisions Decisions Wii or PS3

So Nintendo has decided to launch Wii only 2 days after the PS3 is launched in the U.S. I want both really really bad. But I can afford only one at a time. I don't know which one to buy .

Maybe I should instead of comparing the systems see which one has the better launch titles and go with that one.

I don't know. But I have to decide soon. My local GameStop is going to start taking pre orders on October 1st.

Hmm... I don't know if I would consider either, the Wii, (what a stupid name Nintendo! jeez--- did you do any focus groups on this, outside of Japan....) is just slightly more powerful than a gamecube, with what may turn out to be novelty controllers....

...the PS3, a sixhundred--- six hundred dollars, Sony, ---I don't care if it's supposed to wash my clothes, who wants to buy a $600 dollar appliance that sits in their living rooms--- Blu ray may die out, and then that does you no good--- quite an investment, and what are the launch titles?

I'm not sure--- I'd get a wii--- it will probably be at least fun for the money, and Nintendo won't disapeare, and you'll at least have some playable titles on it--- you certainly won't feel such buyers remorse if PS3 winds up tanking---

PS3 IS a bit pricy. But to me if I enjoy something then the cost doesn't matter. But if it does sink then I will be very mad. Also true Blueray might go the way of the Beta Max and HD DVD will win the whole thing. As for launce titles I don't know off the top of my head, but I know both have at least one thats good.

I'd get a PS3. It will save you more money down the road. Since you don't have to pay for online gameplay. I can't remember the details, so don't take my word on the online gaming. Also the new PSP (if you get one) will be "connected" to the PS3.

To me the only thing that is worth getting the Wii is Zelda. But other than that. PS3 for me.

I'd get the Wii.
Here are my reasons:
- online will be free too
- Zelda: Twilight Princess, Smash Bros. Wii, Monkey Ball Wii, Wario Ware Wii, the virtual console, and I'm sure there'll be a lot of refreshing games on it in the future
- cost less than half the price of a PS3 with a game included
- I couldn't live without some of nintendo's franchises
- almost sure it'll sell well in Japan, so it'll get a lot of support from japanese dev's
- connectivity with the DS
- backward compatible with gamecube games
but that's just me...

I kinda gave up on console gaming a while ago, but in this case I might make an exception and choose for the Wii.

It's cheaper for starters, but more importantly I'm really curious about the controllers!! It looks like Nintendo has given up on competing on processing power, 3D strength or whatever, and has open fired on the front of innovation. Innovation being the most important word in the years to come..

But I guess it depends on what you want to have. I'm a kinda guy that can play Mario Kart (on the N64) all day (multiplayer ofcourse), or enjoy the eye-toy or even the karaoke games on the PS2!! Many people obsessed with graphics and speed and whatever should go for the PS3.

I will get a Wii, because of the back compatibility with GC games and the optional downloading of Sega Megadrive (Genesis in America?), SNES, NES, MSX, PC-Engine games.
The ps3 thus far hasnt impressed me.

Edit: And also sony decided europe wasnt important enough to join in the simultaneous world launch

I'm going to be getting both the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation 3. Some of you are right about the PlayStation 3 being a bit on the pricy side, though I think if I'm going to enjoy it as much as I hope I will, then it will be worth it in the end.

As for the Nintendo Wii, well, I don't have much to say except that it's going to be a really drastic change from how normal video games have been played up until now.I'm looking forward to it a lot ^^

As of this point in time neither. All pre-orders have sold out for both, and if I cant get them in a pre order then I wont buy them as I'm not trying to run around to electronic store to electronic store seeing who has one.

I'd go for a Wii. I mean, there are gonna be great launch titles (Zelda: Twilight Princess, Smash Bros. Wii), free online play...what more could you ask for. Not to mention Nintendo is known for releasing quality games. Not to mention the Wii is like $250? That's the working man's price right there.

You could get a PS3 later down the line, when they knock like $50-$100 bucks off of it. I mean $450 in. tax, is not bad, but notice the launch titles aren't anything to go crazy for. I mean the titles that ONLY interest me are "MGS4", 'Tekken 6", "Final Fantasy XIII" and "Devil May Cry 4". Other than those games I really don't care.

Not to mention, it really killed me when "Assassin's Creed" became a 360 launch title as well. Then that really pushed me over to the Wii bandwagon.

I mean, if you don't already have a 360. I'd say get that and a Wii for the price of one PS3. After all "Gears of War" is worth taking a look at, Cliff Bleszinski has never let me down before.

I'll probably get a Wii first, purely on price. I already have enough credits for CEX from selling old games to buy one as soon as they come out . But I will also get a PS3 when the price comes down, and I'm sure I will play that a lot more, as I still play on my PS and PS2 a lot more than any of the others.

Nintendo is only know for releasing good games from themselves, look outside of that and there is barely anything. Aside from Zelda:TP (Doesn't this come out for the gamecube also?...If so, then then I would be happy with just the GC version) and Smash, those would be the only two games I would play it for, mainly just for Smash(because I play competetively in it), however outside of a few selective games from Nintendo, that's all that I would want a Wii for.

I don't buy systems because of their name, I mainly buy systems because of the very games that come out for it. PS3 with the $600 dollar tag is intimedating, I will say that, however when I look at the good 3rd party games that are lined up to appear on the PS3, it just makes me want to get the system.

Tekken 6*(All about competetive play), Final Fantasy XIII, Virtua Fighter V, and especially Metal Gear Solid IV comming out next year...now, those Four games alone make me want the PS3 over the Wii. These titles as of now, are only exclusive to the PS3, so in the end, I will ultimately choose the PS3, not because of the "fanboy" of loving one system over the other, I could really care less who comes out "on top".

My choice for my system are the games themselves, like back in the early days of the PlayStation, N64, and the Sega Saturn days. I was going to choose the Nintendo 64 because I heard Final Fantasy was going to stick with them, then they switched over to Sony to make Final Fantasy VII...that alone basically sealed the deal for me into getting a PSX. In the end, this is yet, the deciding factor that will make me want to get a PS3...they'll have the exclusive titles that I want most...Tekken series, Final Fantasy series, Virtua Fighter series, and in the future sometime, the Gran Turismo series.

Anyways, my cousins getting a Wii, and will be bringing it over to my apartment anyhow, so it won't be a loss for me in anyway, that way we can both enjoy the PS3 and the Wii
