Anyone using Pimsleur?

I've recently started using Pimsleur's course for studying Japanese. I know I've taken an unorthodox approach by studying 36 lessons in 7 days but I'm using it to refresh my Japanese. Luckily I have a manual job which doesn't require much brain engagement and so study using an mp3 player whilst at work. I just wondered what others think of this course. I've found it very useful so far. Also if anyone has lesson notes I'd be eternally grateful if you would share them with me.
Also I'm a little confused in lesson 36, 37 it introduces "nande" as a means of asking "how". I seem to remember using this word to mean "why" as a informal but common version of "naze". I thought "do yatte" meant "how".

What is Pimsleur? Is that some kind of Japanese lesson's book? :?

The Pimsleur course is a method of learning japanese by cumulative listening and repeating. It is apparently effective because you learn like a child learns his or her mother tongue. i.e. you don't ask grammatical questions. Having been a language teacher I believe in this approach. For example a student learning English who questions why we say "on Earth" and yet "on THE moon" is held up in their progress and may become disenchanted with study. Its all about just accepting. Its 90 30 minute audio lessons devised by Mr Pimsleur.

I tried Pimsleur years ago and didn't find it very good, although I did have a very bad quality one. The American dudes accent was so strong I found him contradicting the Japanese speakers pronunciation of words, after starting lessons at school I found I had learned many words wrong. I myself would not recommend it, I don't think it teaches you the mechanics of a language and truly understand how it works. But if you are just using it to brush up then I guess it alright, but I would recommend getting a text book or better still lessons, you can't beat lessons!
