Aizu Wakamatsu in Fukushima Prefecture is such a beautiful place. I loved the castle there!
I hope more people are coming back to visit Tohoku. A lot still avoid to go there ... :/

I totally agree to Fukushima being a prime tourist destination. Actually, I do not think that Japanese avoid the area, right the contrary. Many of my acquaintances, coworkers and students specifically chose Tohoku to spend their vacations. One of my cycling mates even explored Minamisoma. I was quite impressed by that display of solidarity.

I have never been up, so I would love going there someday... How long does it take from Tokyo to get there by train?

Still so many places to visit in Japan!

One of my students did something similar, too! Though he didn't go to Fukushima, but to affected areas in Miyagi Prefecture! Me, too!

@Davey: Fukushima is extremely close from Tokyo! You'll get to take one of the awesome Tohoku Shinkansen!
For other places it depends! I've been to all of Tohoku this Golden Week vacation and I'm from Kansai, too. I even made it up to Hokkaido !
All by train!
I'm currently posting a "Tohoku Blog Series" in my blog. I hope to be able to show Tohoku's beauty to other people.

Yes, I'm usually traveling alone. My travel schedules are always quite crazy and hectic anyways, but I love it that way! *g*
