Airplane Question

I hope this is the correct forum for this question. I am going to be traveling to Japan, about 14 hour flight. I wanted to bring my DVD player on the plane, but I can't seem to find anyone to tell me what kind of adapter I need for the plane to keep my DVD player working. I am not even sure what it would plug into.

I don't think you can plug your dvd player into anything. Really all you can bring is a couple of spare batteries for your dvd player, if they are compatible.

I do know however that some airlines have plugs, except I think these are middle eastern or malaysian airlines. So I don't that will help you much!

It appears that you're travelling from the USA. You may be using Northwest Airlines. If that's the case, they do not have power jacks on the planes. Most planes do not have them anyway, as marsans said.

As for using your DVD player in Japan, there isn't a huge difference between the Japanese and the North American system, its a difference of 10v and most modern electronics are actually universal for the European market as well which I think is as high as 220v. America and Japan have 110v and 120v. So check the specs on your charger to be sure.

if your flying first class and business they will have em, i think more so in first class, and adapters are like 100 bucks or something. you can buy them at the airport.

try to get some sleep, bring a book and watch some in flight movies.

the first few times i went to japan i tried to keep my self busy with gadgets but now i've been back like 8 and i jus sleep and read books.

the flights really short if you can manage to just zonk out through it after connection flights and whatnot

Continental has power jacks in coach (777s, front section of coach only). I had previously purchased an adapter (70W capability) at Target for around $50.

I have yet to see planes with powerjacks, I must be flying the wrong airlines.

I still use books to keep me entertained!

It would be nice to have power jacks throughout coach instead of having to rely upon extra batteries. On my last trip to Japan, I noticed that the front seats on train cars have them. Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky enough to get one of those seats.

Northwest only has some power outlets in business class...none in economy. Also, they don't have a personal entertainment system, you have to watch (that is if you can actually see it) an overhead screen, and what they want you to watch. I will not being flying them again. My Ipod made the flight tolerable.
