And another 2 weeks later the pants re-arrive (we decided the shirts would just have to do). Wasting no time we get our pants off and try on our new custom tailored pants right in the reception area. Well mine is still 10cms too big around the waist and too long, and they still feel like they are made for someone of 3x my weight (the base of the pants were about 20cm in diameter, i can get the pants on while wearing my desert boots), and my mates pants look like they've been washed wrong and shrank! So we ask for them to send them back, AGAIN, and with stricter instructions and a pile of measurements.

Just out of curiosity, did y'all try to switch them and see if they fit? It almost sounds like the pants were switched up.

Then theres the time this girl came from america and she popped a button off her top because it was too small... some of the jguy's eyes nearly popped out of their heads!

Did their noses start bleeding too?

Hmm...lets see...Kanji I am going to get help with in my library time...they don't need much english for that. My host family teaches me new words, though I forget half of them.

Ewok...good to know other people have had uniform mishaps. I just wish they designed them so that they actually...you know...fit. Fortunatly there are no buttons to pop on the top, it's a sailor style one. Though I suppose I'll probably end up killing the zipper on the side at one point. Or I'll somehow mangage to kill it. I'm accident prone.

Hmm..what was my most recent mishap? OH! A bat made its way into the house last night, and only the 12 year old host sister was home. So we came back and she runs up screaming 'OTOUSAN OTOUSAN' and shows us where it is. In the end the father made a makeshift net out of a coat hanger and a shopping bag, me and the younger sister hid with the door open a crack in one of the bedrooms to watch, and the older host sister hid in the bathroom with the door open a little. He gets the bat, we run and open the window, and he throws the bat, net included out the window. I guess the bat survived the fall because when we went out to check this morning the net was empty.

Also, where or what is Sakae? I haven't heard of it...

Shinjuku has a great big bookstore where you can buy everything, try there.

We tried switching the pants, they were just about the same. They dont really allow for any body shapes outside of the norm

It's straight down the Nagoya Expressway - about 30 minutes from where you're living. The main shopping district in Nagoya.

MARUZEN is the best bookstore for educational purposes and it's English book section is excellent (for an out-of-Tokyo location). Next to the store is Meidi-ya - an international foodstore. Get your chocolate, cookie or cheese fix there - at a price! There are Starbucks a-plenty, an HMV, huge Japanese department stores and more nightlife than you can shake a dead donkey at.

Doesn't your school have a JET teacher? They'll know all about Sakae.

DragonChan, don't feel too bad. Everything my in-laws send me from Japan is too small up top. They sent me a sweater last year for Christmas that said "medium", but, well...it fits me like it's a US X-small... They also sent some expensive geta last month that were too small. I wear a 23.5 in Japanese size(7.5 in US), which is pretty average here, but a little too big over there, I guess. I feel like a giant, and I'm not even big!

Which type? Regular, mocha, caramel or double chocolate. We are talking about Nagoya - population 2.5 million and NOT the northern most tip of Hokkaido - population - three and a half and a rather cold goat.

Personally, I find the regular Tim Tams survive the one-hour drive home best - no, not because I eat them all, but it's just that Nagoya does get just a little bit sweaty in the summer.

Of course there's always the Foreign Buyers Club for more serious chocoholics: Fbcusa.com - again, at a price...

I paid about $40 a pop for mine off the school, and they are nothing special. Do you know which school your going to yet?

Hmm..I'll have to ask if I can go to that store the next time I'm in Nagoya. It was like an hour drive...but I think it is only 20 minutes by train. Or something.

I got my uniform. It's pretty funny. In the end the shirt is too big and the skirt is so long that my host PARENTS have told me to roll it up. (It takes like 2 rolls to get it above my knees.) The other exchange student had the same problem, I know they wanted the skirts to be long but it is a little ridiculous.

My next project is to buy a soccer ball, the other exchange student and I found a park where we can play since the school only has a boys team.

Oh well...post 100!
