I am in desperate need of a quiet, spacious yet comfortable place to study. I live in a shared house with nine other people, so its difficult to focus because there is no privacy and always some sort of distraction. I am studying Japanese in Tokyo, but my school library closes at 7, which is much too early for me. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good place in central Tokyo that's open late? Maybe even with internet?

I can't recommend any specific locations in Tokyo but most large cities in Japan have tons of 24 hour internet/manga cafes where you can go and study and websurf, listen to music, whatever. The ones I've been to usually include free refills at the drink bar along with the cost of renting the cubicle. Or did you mean someplace free? Although they're usually pretty reasonable.

Though there is a problem for quietness,
Because wireless LAN is usable in McDonald, many businessmen and students study here.

Another possibility is if you are near a larger university, you should easily be able to just go to any lounge or study area there, pull out your books, and no one will ever ask for your student ID.

Libraries, such as the one at my university (Waseda) require ID cards, but there are plenty of other buildings with places to study...

Coffee shops dont work too well because the ones around my school are usually crowded and noisy. I still find myself there on some days, but I prefer an alternative. Thanks though!

nhm...in my case I usually go to the huge library near the hanzomon area...otherwise there's still the mc donalds?
