It's not just used for video games, though.

If you want to have voice chat, I hear Skype is the way to go. I don't really know much about voice chat in general, though, because I don't even have a microphone and have never tried it.
 
I believe there are several members who use skype to chat with each other already. I don't really know who does this, since I don't. The written word is plenty fine by my standards.

But If you want one on one chatting. Skype could work.
Probably text chat is better for multiple people though.
 
I keep hearin' of skype, but I assume that skype is a paid service. I go to the local store and find usb phones, I also assume then that skype requires different hardware than just a mic and speakers. Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
It's free for pc - pc calling. If you want to call a cell phone or landline you have to pay for that service.
 
You can do voice chat with MSN, too. I've only done it once, but it worked just fine when I did.
 
You know I try with MSN it worked before but recently it cuts off and I can no longer be heard but I can hear Rieko just fine. I cannot find a solution I have looked all over.
 
could be your microphone, do other chat services give you the same trouble?
 
Also could be your sound settings. a popular one wiht US computers is the mic boost issue... most commonly happens with DELL computers or anything with a sound blaster card.

I don't like the encoding... It's too low... It's like mic chat on aol, it's crappy encoding for low connections. Which is another reson i prefer teamspeak, multi user, and you can change the encoding method for different types of quality and connection. Of course, i have no sympathy for dialup users so i use Speex 25.9 Kbit. lol I think i might download Speex 25.9 Kbit for my programs. lol Sounds better on teamspeak than on cellphones, which points out why i really dislike how companies do things... lol I heard ventrillo was good, too, but i never tried it.
