A beginner who needs advice

I've been studying japanese for myself a bit over the past few weeks when I have spare time but I don't really wanna do this the wrong way. I know about 60 kanji + hiragana + katakana and I learned it all using android apps + paper and pen. And now when I'm done with these first kanji that the app has to provide it gives me the option to study on-yomi reading groups which looked very helpful, but before getting into that I wanna know what you guys think I should do next. Some people say just expanding your vocabulary is good and then they're like "here's a link to a page with a bunch of stuff that you don't understand, you're welcome" and then I feel like studying kanji the way I did, learning some verbs and some adjectives, is more straight forward, but then again that doesn't teach me how to write sentences and so on. So do you know of any good web pages or apps that can help me study kanji and at the same time make up sentences? So far I've only found things that are a bit too far ahead of me hehe

I recommend looking into getting a real textbook to work from. Look at the books from Japan Times, like the Genki series.

Start off by learning the grammar, preferably from a textbook like the Genki series. This is more fundamental and therefore more important than both an extensive vocabulary and kanji knowledge. (And anyway, you'll automatically learn new vocabulary as you go along.) Also, it gives you a linear program to follow for a year or more.

Dedicated kanji study can come after that. Concerning this, don't just learn the readings by themselves; instead, learn an example word containing the kanji for each (common) reading.

Yes; there's also a second book that continues upon the first (Genki 2). In addition there are also separate workbooks with extra exercises.

Not the advice you were looking for, I know, but I'm getting cranky in my old age, and I can't always suppress my inner English teacher.
