So, I'm Goluxas, a college student. I took five semesters of Japanese before it became apparent that going for the Minor would tack on another year or two to my (already extended) time here. It was fun, and I feel like I learned a lot, but its already been almost a year since my last Japanese class, and I feel like my knowledge is fading.
To counter this, I've been studying on my own, which is why I joined here. To learn kanji, grammar, and such, I've been reading raw shounen manga (specifically Hunter X Hunter). It's very slow progress, as I make sure to write down and practice each new kanji I encounter, and often get stuck on the translations, but it's at least somewhat enjoyable. I'd like to practice with children's books/manga, but I don't know where to find some online. Anybody know?
I've also been watching KeyHoleTV to work on my listening comprehension, but that seems to be a failing battle for now.
I've gone through a few of the threads here, and it looks like a very friendly, helpful place. Pleasure to meet you all, and I hope my stay here is a productive one!
