I am new to the forum here (you've probably already figured that out though). I'm American, and have learned a few Japanese words here and there in years past, but a few months ago, I decided to teach myself Japanese, because my school used to offer the class, but due to lack of teachers and funds and crap, the class was cut three years ago. This coming fall will be my senior year, and I am not going to wait around for them to get the class back anymore! So I started teaching myself Japanese back in March/April of 2009. I know some basic words and sentence structure plus old words I had learned quite some time ago, and I can write words only in hiragana at the moment. I have almost memorized all of them. I have not touched katakana and I know very little kanji words. So if you see me type out a word in hiragana instead of using its kanji symbol, chances are I don't know it. That aside, I am very happy to be here!!! I am so excited to further my learning of the language and culture! I hope to grow during my time on the forums here!
