I've been studying on and off for a few years (mainly learning from anime which is bad!)

I have only recently taken up studying again as I will be taking a course when I get to University. I have learnt the hiragana in about a week of learning which I am quite proud of! So hopefully I can work hard to pick up more of the language quickly

Awesome. I'm taking a beginners course in Japanese at Uni and if you're taking a beginners course like I did, learning hiragana and katakana give you a massive advantage in the first couple of weeks. Also be careful when you type japanese because you have to type "konnichiHA" and not "konnichiWA" as you did

If you have an iPhone or Android phone (or any computer really), you can buy an app for about 10 dollars (not sure how much that is in Euros) called Human Japanese. It's pretty useful if you're a beginner, and if you have it on a phone it's even better because you can read it while waiting somewhere or even before going to sleep.
