こんばんは・おはよう、みんな!
So I have a close friend living in Shiga and I want to see her for the holidays. But before anything, I have a few questions about Shiga and Japans weather patterns for the four seasons:
In December, does it snow like in the States, or does the snowfall in another month?
What do people in this region do for the holidays like Christmas and New Years?
Is the weather alright to take a dive into Lake Biwa?
What kinds of food are indigenous to Shiga?
What days off are there (besides the Emperor's birthday on the 23rd)?
ありがとうございます、じゃ待ったね!

A simple Google search will net you answers to all those questions.

On the most ambiguous one, what people do during Christmas and New Year, the answer is not much aside from visit family and hometowns. Christmas is not even a national holiday here, so people work then!

I thought that might be the case, so I went searching shortly after posting this (should have gone before lol), very useful information. Thanks for the answer provided. :)
