そこで一拍おいてから、息がかかるくらいの距離にまで顔を近づけてくる。

Hi. What does the かかる mean in this case? I understand the general meaning of the sentence though.

Is the meaning something like "hit lightly", as in 水しぶきが私の顔にかかった。?
