1. ええ、それと、これから勉強する時に、私がクラスで、 キーワードと言っているものや、これは大事な概念だと言ってる ものがありましたよね。

I can understand chunks of this in isolation, but I do not understand how these chunks fit together, or the overall structure and purpose of the sentence. What is it saying?


2. それと、クラスメートと一緒に、質問を出し合いながらやるのもいいと思い ますよ。

Out of this I get, "Also, together with your classmates, while you're asking each other questions, I think you could/should do (something)."

a) Is that right? Does やる refer to some activity that is supposed to be apparent from the general context? Also, why やるのもいい not やってもいい?

b) Also I am not very clear of the exact meaning of 出し合う here.

足立： 部長、お元気そうですね。
部長： いや～、なかなかはっきりしなくてはね・・・ 。まだ、しばらく時間がかかりそうだよ。
足立： あ、そうですか。でも、顔色もいいですよ。
部長： そうかな・・・。仕事のことも心配だし・・・ 。

My attempted translation:

足立： Section head, you seem in good spirits.
部長： I'm having trouble sorting this out. It looks like it's going to take quite a while longer.
足立： Oh, right. You look cheerful though.
部長： I don't know... I'm worried about work too.

As well as other things that may well be wrong,

a) What is いや～ likely to be conveying here?

b) What is the purpose of も in the last sentence? I translated this as "too", as usual, but it doesn't seem to make sense. What would 部長 have been talking about in the second line, other than work?

This very free-form spoken Japanese, which is why it's so hard to understand as a whole. The speaker starts saying one thing, then kind of "interrupts himself" to say another. I'm guessing there's a continuation after this sentence in which the speaker returns to what he originally wanted to say after これから勉強するときに

a) Is that right? Does やる refer to some activity that is supposed to be apparent from the general context? Also, why やるのもいい not やってもいい?

Yes, the activity やる is referring to should be apparent from context.
やってもいい: the speaker acknowledges/gives permission
やるのもいい: the speaker is suggesting something ("it would also be a good idea to...")

b) Also I am not very clear of the exact meaning of 出し合う here.

Your translation (asking each other questions) is fine.
~I 合う is a verb form indicating an action taken by multiple parties toward one and other.

It's conveying a sense of disagreement with 足立's statement of him being in good spirits.

b) What is the purpose of も in the last sentence? I translated this as "too", as usual, but it doesn't seem to make sense. What would 部長 have been talking about in the second line, other than work?

What I'm getting out of the Japanese dialogue is that 部長 is recovering from some kind of health problem. So he is worried about work in addition to his health, hence も.

Thanks Lloyd. The full context for (1) is too complicated for me to reproduce here (it's in the middle of a long and somewhat rambling dialogue), so I will probably have to leave that.

In (3), do you think お元気そうですね and 顔色もいいですよ are referring more to physical health or to cheerful state of mind? I was thinking the latter, but from what you say perhaps it is more the former?

The most common use of the word 顔色 is in the expression 顔色が悪い, which is an observation that someone appears to be sick or overly-fatigued. I have never heard it used to refer to a state of mind (except when someone is so distraught that it causes them to appear physically sick)

Also, note the flow of the conversation: 部長 denies 足立's statement that he appears 元気. (sorry for mixing languages, btw), but then 足立 makes a counterpoint about 部長's good 顔色. If mood/state of mind were the center of the discussion, 足立 wouldn't be able to make any rebuttal at all, because how can you argue with someone about their own mood or feelings?
