Hi there,

A short message to introduce a web site that was opened a couple of months ago...

Secret Japan is a bilingual forum (English / French) dedicated to everything related to travels in Japan. Our goal is to propose mini guides on specific areas of the country, especially those a little ツ"off the beaten tracksツ", which could serve as reference for foreign visitors traveling around Japan or people living there.

I hope you will have time to have a look on our pages. And if you know some interesting places in Japan, and are willing to spend to time to share your knowledge, we would really be happy to read from you!
And of course, any comment or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Wow! This looks like it could be an interesting project! Keep it up!

Thanks Harvey,

I hope some of the members of jref.com will have the time to visit Secret Japan and contribute to this forum. Since we are looking at information that is usually not available in guidebooks, we are relying on everyone's contribution.

Hopefully the site will one day be popular enough to attract new contributors.

Since Secret Japan web site opened last year, it has grown continuously and now starts to reach a reasonable size...

In our Guide section, we have now about 50 guides for destinations "off the beaten tracks", covering most areas of Japan, all with maps and many pictures. All guides are original texts written by our members, and all places that we describe have been visited. You therefore can get some first-hand information, which hopefully will help you to plan your next trip.

We are (of course) always looking for new contributors, so if you want to share your knowledge on a specific area of Japan, please join us!
Our bilingual guides/forum use English and French as main languages.

This is really an attractive web site! I am now preparing my next trip to Japan, a country I have already visited several times, and am glad to find such an comprehensive ressource! I definitively intend to visit some of the destinations described there...

Thanks for your kind words!

Secret Japan is getting new guides on regular basis, and we now are reaching the number of 65 travel guides. Some small improvements have been added, including faster loading of the pages (for those who still don't have an ADSL connexion...).

All our guides are written by people who live, lived or travel extensively in Japan. We obviously are looking for more persons to join us and contribute (although I know it is quite a lot of work), so if you are passionate about traveling in Japan... we are waiting for you!
