Tatenokawa Junmai Daiginjō Shuryū

Tatenokawa Junmai Daiginjō Shuryū is made of Yamadanishiki rice and Yamagata KA yeast, which has strong fermentation power and produces a mellow aroma reminiscent of refreshing fruit. The Yamadanishiki gives it a strong flavour and a long aftertaste.

The aroma of this sake is delicate, with a fruity sweetness reminiscent of melon, strawberries, and grapes. As you take in the gorgeous scent, it sets the stage for what awaits: an elegant entry with pronounced fruity flavours. The balance between acidity and bitterness is just right, creating a mouthfeel that swirls with complexity. The finish is mellow, leaving you craving more. Shuryū, translating to "mainstream," represents Tatenokawa's commitment to making this Daiginjō their benchmark. Whether enjoyed chilled or at room temperature, it's an exciting experience to compare how the flavours evolve. It becomes mellower and slightly sweeter at room temperature, with earthy undertones. Tatenokawa consistently delivers exceptional sake!

I tried this two days ago — it was on the menu as 本日の日本酒 included in the drink plan — and it was very pleasant and easy to drink.

Where did this description come from? Certainly no Japanese brewery or reviewer would think to recommend this for blue cheese.

Oh, they do recommend the most outlandish and hard-to-find food accompaniments!

Tatenokawa is a fabulous brewery. They specialise in Daiginjo but don't break the bank. I'm glad you liked it!
