Kuroushi Junmai Ginjō Omachi Namagenshu (黒牛 純米吟醸 雄町 生原酒) is made of Omachi rice milled to 50%. The Kuroushi (黒牛) brand is broadly divided into two main label types: those bearing the name "黒牛" in characters, and those—like this particular bottle—that feature the illustration of a bull. The distinction lies in the rice used. The series with the illustrated bull is a limited edition line made with Omachi rice (雄町米), which is relatively rare in distribution. Among these, the namazake (生酒, unpasteurised sake) versions are produced in especially small quantities and have become particularly popular. This sake offers a juicy, fruity, and intensely flavourful profile, yet finishes with a brisk cleanness that imparts a refreshing character. It is a bottle that fully showcases both the unique qualities of Omachi and the signature richness of the Kuroushi label.

In 1866, Nate Genbei (名手源兵衛) began brewing sake for the prosperous lacquerware artisans of the time. Born the third son of a family of self-sufficient farmers in Konan, Yasuhara Village, Genbei was apprenticed to a fertiliser merchant (名手屋 Meiteiya) and was partly given the business. He initially tried to make candles but failed. He later borrowed 200 ryō from his family to buy shares of a sake brewery slightly north of the current brewery. His comeback as a businessman and sake brewer was successful.
