Hello,

If it is possible, please, kindly, help me to find meaning of 気を配って in the sentence below:

さらには、「もしあなたが暑いのなら国道に出てレストハウスにでも入りますか。」などと、細かく気を配ってくれる。

Maybe, it is possible to translate it as:

Even more, "If it is hot for you, how about go out to national highway and enter the rest shop or something like that" - [bear] said among other things, every minute show me an attention.

I translated 気を配って as "to show attention" and 細かく as "every minute". But I am not sure if such translation is correct. :?

It's more like "looking after me" or "showing concern" or "thinking about me (my situation)" and stuff like that. With 細かく here I suppose "paying attention to my every need" or "showing concern for my every need" or something like that would be a fair translation.

By the way, 国道に出るレストハウス isn't 国道にあるレストハウス? Seems kind of strange for a building to 出る. And in the US, at least, we call those "rest stops". I'm not sure if "shop" was just a typo or not.

Oh, and it wasn't 熱い instead of 暑い? I thought the latter was used for weather only, but I could be wrong about that.

Thank you for your kind help. When you have time please, kindly, look at attached picture. It is an original sentence.

Indeed, in previous sentences 暑い has been used to describe the weather. I was thinking that bear asking if it is fine to protagonist to continue to walk. I think, according to story, it was a long hike in a quite hot weather.

As for レストハウス maybe it is better to translate as "rest house", but I am not sure...

暑い can be used for "to feel it's hot".

OK, so now that this got started...

熱い is used for things that are hot to the touch, like 赤熱したアイロン or something, right? In that sense, it's like 冷たい, right? So 氷が冷たい, but 外は寒い and 僕は寒い, right?

Right. But 熱い/冷たい can be used for parts of body, as in 体が熱い(feverish), 指先が冷たい.

Is that for when you touch someone's forehead and it feels hot, and when you touch someone's fingertips and they feel cold, respectively?

No, you can also use it for your own body parts.

部屋は寒いけど、風邪をひいていて体が熱い。

手袋をしないで外に出たら、指先が冷たくなった。

Well, that's more complicated than I was thinking it was, although 熱い makes sense, because of 熱 and 熱病.

体が熱い shows that the heat source is inside the body(having a fever, being excited, etc.). 暑い means to feel hot because it(= weather/air) is hot.
