The operator of the Tokyo Harry Potter theme park has issued a recall for replica Godric Gryffindor swords due to potential violations of Japan's strict weapons laws. Warner Bros. Studios Japan LLC, the park's operator, confirmed that 351 swords were sold between May 2022 and April 2023. The 86-centimetre-long replicas, displayed on wooden plaques, were priced at 30,000 yen each.

The park, called Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo--The Making of Harry Potter, opened in June last year. Police informed the company that the replicas can be classified as "swords" under the Firearms and Swords Control Law and must be registered with authorities. Warner Bros. Studios is now asking customers who bought the swords to contact the company.
