This should be making the news. An unbelievable amount of rain fell along the top of the Noto peninsula. This is the 24hr total. Roads washed out, tunnel (re)construction flooded and workers missing, the emergency disaster housing that was set up in Wajima for people who lost their housing in the quake and fire last January has flooded and people evacuated. Landslides. The evening paper said that during one hour Wajima got 121mm. Suzu at 258mm is hurting, too.

On Saturday, the Meteorological Agency issued its most severe alert as "unprecedented" torrential rains struck parts of Ishikawa Prefecture, devastated by the New Year's Day earthquake. The heavy rainfall led to flooding and triggered mudslides, resulting in at least one fatality, and over ten people are missing. Over 120 millimetres of rain per hour were recorded in Wajima, located in Noto, as linear rainbands formed, bringing torrential downpours. This was the heaviest rainfall the region had experienced since records began. Prefectural authorities reported one fatality in Suzu. In Wajima, ten people are missing, according to the mayor. At the same time, the fire department in the prefecture's north reported three missing individuals swept away by rivers in Suzu, Wajima, and Noto, the three municipalities under the emergency warning.

Tens of thousands of people in four cities in central Japan have been ordered to evacuate after weather forecasters warned of major flooding caused by heavy rain. About 18,000 people in Wajima and another 12,000 in Suzu have been told to seek shelter in Ishikawa prefecture, Honshu island. The AFP news agency said another 16,000 residents in the Niigata and Yamagata prefectures north of Ishikawa were also told to evacuate.

Some, but not much rain here, maybe 20mm. I think some red blotches just went over Tsushima, and it looks like a long line of that is heading for Okinoshima and those islands. North of Niigata City got a lot of rain earlier.
