I have a flag that is purportedly from the battle of Okinawa , and I am attempting to learn a bit more about what the writing is, and the odds of it being authentic. It does not look much like the good luck flag examples I have seen, but I am admittedly out of my depth with items like this. Apprecciate any help!

I'm about to leave the house but the title line reads:

戰史に残る航空総反攻發令
The launch of the air counteroffensive, a milestone in the history of the war

This looks more like a brief account of part of the battle. It references 菊水作戦, Operation Chrysanthemum (water)? I'm not a history buff, but the flag is pretty legible so others will be able to provide more information.

Odds of it being authentic, very low. This is just like the other flag posted on here a couple of days ago. It's just not realistic to think that any part of an army would take out a flag and start jotting down a battle diary on it. This is strictly for tourists or for the post-war occupation GIs who were looking for Japanese kitsch to send back home.
