Howdy!

So I love gaming (I'm gonna keep all my random posts here so I don't clutter up the forum with threads) I ordered phantasy star 0 Japan import for my old DS and I gotta say. Japanese games are amazing compared to American games. I'm having some difficulty translating everything while playing but I'm making progress.
 
If you're thinking I'm going to go through all that and correct all your errors born of guessing at things you haven't learned yet I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you. I have no intention of indulging you in it.

Just curious, I wanna know about you then, did you learn English as a second language or Japanese? Because I don't hear many people in America speak like your post I quoted. I know you live in Japan so tell me more

I take it you mean you don't hear people speak in grammatically correct complete sentences. I am from a hick town in West Tennessee and I speak like I'm from a hick town in West Tennessee, but that doesn't mean I can't write English well. I grew up in the era when they still taught English grammar in school. We had grammar every year from fourth grade until graduation and had spelling as a separate subject from about the fourth through sixth grades, if memory serves correctly.

Wow that's odd. Your home town probably isn't 250 miles from where I reside. I'm in southern Indiana, your grammar did throw me off ha. Probably because of the age difference, I'm 25. How in the world does someone from Tennessee turn to Japanese for a second language? People think I'm weird for studying jap until I tell them I work for Toyota, so what made you wanna learn?
 
I learned Japanese because it comes in incredibly handy living in Japan.

Try to avoid using "jap" instead of "Japanese" as the shortened version has a past association with strong racist sentiments. People who go around looking for things to be offended about will give you grief over it, regardless of whether you mean anything by it or not.

あら, I didn't know that, I won't say that anymore, didn't know about it being offensive. Haha obviously it helps living in Japan but what's the deal? Why move to Japan?

The reason I asked was because a felony conviction would mean you would be barred from entering Japan. Misdemeanors don't count.

Yeah I figured. The bilingual job (which I'm trying to learn Japanese for) has paid trips to Japan occasionally. Mostly around the US. Speaking of which, what is your profession? Are you a bilingual analyst or something?

Whhhaaaaaaaaaaaat??? Damn that's crazy! I'm sorry, I thought you knowing Japanese was your job. It's such a rarity around here. So you got a scholarship to be a truck driver in Japan...?
 
そですか. A good friend of mine is a medic in the navy. A guy I went to school with is a marine stationed in Okinawa . Does driving a truck in Japan pay more than in the US or something?

We were wondering why you haven't been around for a while. Did you notice that your language stuff got split off into a different thread?

Accounts generally don't get deleted. If you no longer wish to participate with us you can just quietly stop participating. If you're getting e-mail notifications you don't want, then disable them before going away. Have we offended you in some way or did you just lose interest in learning Japanese?
