This waiting is driving me nuts!

I am pretty sure I'm not going to get the embassy recommendation due to them saying they will only choose 1 and there was one dude that will only not get it if he gets hit be an asteroid in the next week.

But I want to KNOW. This waiting gives me all this false hope. It's been a week and a half. They said I'll know in a few weeks. I hope it comes soon.

Flidar congratulations!! And thank you a lot for the priceless information you posted about the interview. I will be able to prepare better now! (Assuming that I will pass the English and Japanese exams that is >_<)

I have just turned in my application today, and the lady at the embassy checked my papers and she said it's ok, and unless I will receive an email from the embassy saying that I am not qualified, I will have to sit for the written examinations on 16th of July. Does anyone here have any idea if it's a bad thing that I don't have a supervising professor yet? I only got a verbal agreement from one professor at Chiba University, but he is an Englishman teaching there, and I fear that the embassy won't like this, since I think they want the professors to be Japanese (logically). What do you guys think?

Ralukchris, the adviser I found is a man from America who is a professor in Japan. They seemed to like this idea very much in the interview. I think it should be fine, and even help because you guys might share a language. I suppose it depends on what you are studying.

Really? I'm so glad to hear that! Actually I was so stressed up because of this. Since I want to research about the architecture of the traditional dwellings, maybe a foreign point of view will be interesting. Thank you for your reply!

For ralukchiris, I think not having found a supervisor is not a big problem, but if in that case, you have to point out in the interview that there are some supervisors who are in the field of your research plan in Japanese universities, and that you will contact them after getting the scholarship. More important than finding a supervisor in my opinion, is try to pursuade or impress the interview commitee that your research is indeed very important, making contributions to Japan, your country, or the whole world, and also that your research is better conducted in Japan.
I hope you all good lucks and hope we can have parties in Japan next year...

I already aware that the test in my country will be held in early July next month. Up until now, still no call come from the embassy, seems like I didn't pass the document selection process (again) ...
is there a probability that the embassy call in the different day? or is there other Indonesian user in this forum who received call in the different day from poopypants ?
kindly inform me as I still dont want to lose hope ☝

This is my 2nd attempts applying for this scholarship and I actually had tried everything from changing my research topics into a more concrete one, asking recommendation (again) to both my supervisor at work and my ex lecturer, even bother with taking JLPT level 2 in which I didn't manage to pass ☝ (I barely manage to pass lvl 3 last year though).

Flidar, thanks again for the advices! You are right, I will focus on finding a way to impress the interviewers. Probably the most important question of all is why do I want to study that and how important it is for Japan and my country. I think they will skip the "why Japan" question, because it's kind of obvious (i can't find japanese traditional houses anywhere else other than in Japan..)
So from now i'm gonna start focusing on the japanese test which is the next step towards getting the scholarship. Good luck to all of you who still have to sit for exams and interviews!

Also try to think about what you can do to enhance the friendship between Japan and Romania, scentific communication, language promotion or others.
My proposed supervisor in Kyoto University asked me to go to Japan for an interview at July so I can directly enter the phD course without any research student period. Oh, my, that cost! They said they prefer to meet me in person instead of network video cam. Their decision really costs.....

already contacted the Japanese embassy by phone and my prediction was right, I am not passing the document selection ☝

anyone here other than me who already try this more than once?
kindly share your experience. especially who passed after their 2nd, 3rd or 4th attempt.
your experience would encourage me to do my 3rd attempt next year

Earlier I ask the embassy reps whether I still able to submit my application next year, he said that I am still eligible to apply despite I already fail twice.

Now I'm being bothered by the finding supervisors thing now. I got all the things from the embassy this morning and the lady in charge told me to hand in the loa before Aug 13th at lastest. She also told me that in the past years, no people selected by HK embassy have ever return with no loa and no people have been rejected later in MEXT for all the years which made me a bit comfortable.
She also told me something that might be helpful to everybody here to know at least. The MEXT scholarship for research students actually can be used in a variety of ways. You can go to just work as a research student in two years, you can continue your study with the scholarship to master and down to phD, and finally, I think most people might not know, that you can enroll in another university in local or other countries and also enjoying the studentship as a exchange research student in a Japanese university for up to two years. Say, I can go to study a phD degree University of Hong Kong, and then go to Japan with the scholarship as an exchange student for two years, and then go back to the University of Hong Kong and finish my degree.

Anyway, it seems like that I still have to fight for it with everybody. And we will still have 10 months to go to fight together in this forum. Hope I can get loa from the professors and universities that I prefer. ﾅ?F窶堋ｳ窶堙ｱﾂ、窶堋ｱ窶堙ｪ窶堋ｩ窶堙ｧ窶堙?ﾋ?ｪﾂ渉鞘?堙嫁?ﾃｦ窶卍｣窶堙ｨ窶堙懌?堋ｵ窶堙･窶堋､ﾂ！

Hey, guys. After so many days of striving together with you, I just got the call from the Embassy, after waiting for 3 days with どきどき, that I will be recommended to the scholarship. I will go to the Embassy tomorrow to retrieve materials from them.

I guess, the most important thing is that I have done a great job in the interview part. The main interviewer was actually quite surprised and said you did so good at the end of the interview, which is one week ago.
I will maybe tonight, put a summary of the interview questions here, mostly from the Malaysian Embassy as I've read every thread of the MEXT scholarship on this site. I hope you all do well, again!

I have already obtain a verbal consent from a Japanese professor who is willing to accept me as his student and he will send me a letter of acceptance written by him (not by the university). So, my status is now acquiring admission. Should I explain the reasons since I haven't got the official admission letter from the university?

I think you can write admission acquired. And they might ask you about this in the interview like how you contacted the professor, so be prepared about that.
THe 窶｢ﾃ看ｽ窶? is not that important at this stage, since the embassy lady told me yesterday I can change it whatever I want and return to her be4 Aug 13 with the loa.
