Gazette

@ olosta: ohh I didn't mean to start an argument, I'm sorry if that's the impression you got.

@ femme_fatale: Haha, for some reason Aoi liking Metallica doesn't surprise me, but it's the first I've heard of the other two. The DIM intro? I see similarities in the slow, low music, but that's about it really.

I know what you mean about the whole English lyrics thing since Ruki's English is pretty poor, and some of the lyrical meanings are utterly impenetrable - he still uses translation software haha! Usually I just shrug it off with an "Oh, Ruki." and carry on. LOL

Hey, to each his own. It shouldn't bother other people if you don't like their favourite member, it's not like a personal attack. Don't worry about it. 8)

@ Lola - I have met a lot of other fans on the internet who notice the clothes and looks more than the members  Today I mistook Zoro's vocalist for Takeru from SuG cause their fashion style was similar.
Don't like the No 666 outfits much. From the pre Cassis era I liked their Anata no Tame no Kono Inoichi Pv and the Cockroach outfits.
Yeah I don't like Reita and people will have to deal with that . :)

@ Ruu - It doesn't surprise me either . He once said his brother listened to western metal. Yea DIM's intro I was talking about.
I won't be surprised if he used Babelfish which I can blame for " Art Drawn by Vomit " Yes a few meaning of those songs only Ruki knows.

Thank you for those kinds words Ruu 🌹

@Lola-chan I know about the drinking. That Uruha drinks more was a just a figure. xD I know a lot about Japan, my interest doesn´t end by VK ;P
@Ruu~ I didn´t get the impression. I just know when to admit I was not right :)

@lola you can read rukis blog? O_O

ive never actaully seen the gazette say their VK. Have they actually said that one time? Because i thought its something no one would say as its a stereotype ._.

everyone can say the gazettEs old-style "visual kei" era was intresting but i think it's as they just started out they maybe had a lot of ideas for their style, people do but as you grow older you tend to not focus your intrest on looks also i think some members have mentioned this in interveiws.. they want to be recognised for their talent not their looks.

Yeah Uruha doesnt drink a lot.. i dont know why everyone says that its not really a problem as its never affected his work.. as i said before millions of people drink but people get hysterical because Uruha is popular/famous.. people should stop worrying and being so dramatic.. even if he did have a problem i think dramatising it would make it worse.. its like when dir en grey fans moan about kyo self harming

i never knew Ruki idolized kiyoharu.. never seen him mention that
and he definatly wasnt influenced by dir en grey.. to me, dir en grey and the gazettE arent similar, Diru is way way more heavy i think.

I really like the songs like D.L.N and Field of crying but i do love the way the GazettE have a mixture of ballads and heavy etc thats what makes them good as their music doesnt sound all the same.

@Femme_fatale: I'd imaging any lyrics made with Babelfish would be hilariously bad. Perhaps as bad as the lyrics for Carry? which ironically has the fourth line: 'I did not find a translation' LMAO

@ TakaWarumono: Yeah, I think Ruki's only ever mentioned him on his blog, I haven't seen him talk about Kiyoharu anywhere else. Kiyoharu's mentioned Ruki a couple of times on his blog too since they met up, haha. Here's a picture Kiyoharu posted:

(original entry)

I also like the variety in Gazette's music. 8)

@ Ruu - The dearest fiance is me  Ruki could be playing with our minds as he usually does with the song meanings. Can I use one of the Ruki icons from Pg 614 please ?

@ Taka - Dire en Grey seem more heavier and darker with their material than the GazE boys. Yes I agree their music changes per song and sometimes within the song itself . That's good I'm not the only one who likes DLN 😊 About the image thing I thought it was the same with Diru.

I meant to ask but " What is Film Bug ? " . I remember seeing it a while back with Taion or am i confusing it with Black Film :?:

Last edited:
@ Femme fatale: oh God, those are still on here? They're so old (and crap compared to my newer icons)! lol but yeah, you can use one if you want to.

Film Bug is a PV collection DVD. The first Film Bug contained the PVs: reila, COCKROACH, Cassis, SHADOW IV II I, Taion and SILLY GOD DISCO. Film Bug II will contain all the PVs that have come out after NIL and I think it will also have the alternative Chizuru PV without clips from 'The Apartment' film.

By the way, I love D.L.N too, it's one of my favourites. ;)

@ Ruu - Yep they are still on here. Thank You ! 🙂 FB 2 would be cool to have. I heard something about Chizuru. I have never seen the version of that song without the Apartment clips. It may just be the same as with BID.

DLN is a nice mellow song . I tend to GazE's heavier songs like Ogre , Leech , 13 Stairs etc more than the ballards. Is Chizuru considered a ballard ? :?:

@ olosta: Sorry 'bout assuming then. There are a lot of people who complain about Uruha's 'outrageous drinking habits' and it sounded a bit like you thought so too.

@ TakaWarumono: If you're a heresy member you get access to his blog. I've been studying japanese for some time, so I can understand some of it, but not all. My friend translates ;)

Yes, I think so too. It's only natural, everyone changes when they grow up. I think it's a shame some people still idolise them mostly because of their looks, though... Or blindly worships whatever they produce just because it's theirs. :/

I think they've been one of my favourite bands for so long because their music is still new, and there's so much variety. I haven't gotten the impression that they've hit that wall when they start reproducing the same old stuff, and I hope they'll continue like they have for a long time.

<i'm back to ruin lives 🙂>
anyway, I noticed something about 3 different songs, the chords Uruha are playing sound a little too similar and I want some other opinions on them.

Listen to these songs in this order: Guren, Kyomu no owari Hakudozume no mokushi, & finally Shiroki Yuutsu

what to listen for in particular: try listening to these songs with earbuds because you'll hear it better.

Alright watch the Guren pv and pay very close attention to Uruha and only him. Listen to his playing (except his solo, solo not important here) now when you listen to the song on a cd/mp3player w/ earbuds Uruha's playing is strongly noticeable in the right ear (or it is for me anyway). After you've listened to the entire song, try listening to the other 2 songs, again listen only to Uruha's playing (single out his guitar ). For Shiroki Yuutsu watch the live preformance on the DIM Tour Final @ Saitama, pay very close attention to Uruha's playing then try listening to the song again on cd/mp3.
when you pay attention to his playing in all 3 songs, his chords on the first 3-4 strings sound all the same (or to me anyway.) Uruha should practice more :p

here's something cool: when you watch their pvs play close attention to which guitarist is playing what, then listen to the song with earbuds (which is important - clearer/closer/more noticeable sound) everything Uruha plays is presented in the right ear and everything Aoi plays is in the left ear. When Uruha is playing a solo the sound is in surround stereo (you'll hear it in both hears ~ unless you're deaf in one ear :p) but if Aoi is playing the solo, in the left ear you'll hear Reita's bass a bit more clearly and defined. Sometimes I find it hard to hear Reita's bass at all.
I know some people can't listen to just one instrument in particular in songs but try your best. Watching the pv/live preformance helps you remember the sound so you'll notice it a lot more quickly while listening to the cd/mp3. :D

@ Kyous Elric: I've noticed, although I think saying "he should practice more" is taking it a bit far. Playing guitar is his job. He's been playing for well over a decade and I'm quite sure he knows what he's doing.
Even if the songs do have a couple of similar chords, so what? You can't expect him to make up new riffs every time they make a new song.

@Lola-chan no problem :) nope, I am alright with Uruha drinking, as long as it doesn´t affect his carreer (after all, I am not an abstinent, I know drinking is not dangerous unless you can´t control it and that is clearly not his problem)

hm...about uruha´s playing...i think he is a god guitarist, but I am no pro so my opinion doesn´t really count,, however, he used to say he is quite lazy in some matters and it is a fact that Aoi made a bigger development than Uruha since being in Gazette, but Uruha is stil n.1 guitarist, right? :)

@ Kyo - Honestly I'm blunt when it comes to playing instruments but I don't mind his playing because he sounds good and puts a lot of dedication into it. I know what you are talking about for songs like Baretta , Regret and Filth in the Beauty if you only have one earbud on you won't hear the other guitarist. Back to ruin lives eh ? You ain't dragging me into no more fights again .

@ Olosta - if you mean number 1 as in lead guitarist then yes though I think both of them are equally talented.

of course they are both equally talented, it´s just that Aoi was worse than Uruha when they begun, hence Aoi developed more that Uruha. I do not think either that Uruha would "lack" practice just because he repeats some parts of rifs...a lot musicians do it even intentionally

Oh I see what you mean now.:D Unlike poor Kai who thought Uru was the technician :p
I wouldn't really think repeating riffs would also mean lack of practice. He has been playing for years now. I would think they all improved since the beginning even Ruki's singing too.

Wow, I missed qute a lot hings here 0.0
Okay, I can't really read all ur posts guys, but I'll start form #Lola-s post where she told us to top chatting xD And #Lola, youre completely right, but the fact is that there's not much news recently, so I guess that's why we started talkin 'bout other stuff, and I'm so sorry >.<
Okay, related to your question -
The old and the new Gaze are completely different. I like the new Gaze but in the other way than I liked the old one. I love them now, but I also miss their old style in music as in costumes. And I think Tuki misses it 2. Their music has progressed but it also changed. I read somewhere that Ruki said something like this period from Wakaremichi to Before I decay was the 1st round, and now they're starting the 2nd one from the beggining. I don't know if it's true or not, but I really hope so cuz that would mean that we can watch growth of our dear Gaz-chan once again and I'm sure we would all enjoy it. This time it may be even better cuz now they already have experience and it would be much easier for them and much funnier for us.
I just hope I'll like their further work cuz it's really worth it and not only cuz they're Gazette, If you know what I mean.
I was talking about music here but it's also related to their look. I don't want casual Gaz-boys. We all know, wanted or not, music is not just about music nowdays. It's also about style. Always.

I got your point dear

Dear i don't know if you know the band LINKIN PARK, SAOSIN, SIMPLE PLAN, WITHIN TEMPTATION, or maybe some other western band that sort of sound like those i mention, believe it or not when i tried learning the guitar part of uruha in their song CASSIS, then tried playing the songs of those bands i mentioned everything turned out to be simple.the way western band play is like more or LESS half of the GAZETTE effort in creating music.
in my opinion, when it comes to those songs of them that you mentioned, it really does sound almost the same. ☝ aside from that i don't know if you will agree 😌but the chords in the songs IN THE MIDDLE OF CHAOS and INVISIBLE WALL; CIRCLE OF SWINDLER and ZETSU; some parts of MAGGOTS and MAXIMUM IMPULSE; SOCIAL RIOT MACHINES and BEFORE I DECAY, most of the chords in these sound the same too. but maybe the similarity ranges between 20% & above depending on what song.
what makes things interesting is how they are able to incorporate different melodies, riffs, solos, style of playing, etc. to make distinctions on which song is which. so i guess that's what makes them so creative. i haven't heard any band that sounds the same as them. even in the TUNING OF SOME OF THEIR SONGS are not very commonly used, probably due to the fact that its going to be very easy to find good sound out of it, but then again they paved a way to make it sound good.
in my opinion, Kyomu no owari Hakudozume no mokushi, shiroki yuutsu, & guren, is not a very hard piece compare to SUMIRE🌹, SILLY GOD DISCO🕺 & MISEINEN, but putting a hardcore solo into it really makes the piece hard. it took me 2 days to be able to learn play the verse & chorus part of GUREN but more or less than 3mos. to be able to learn play the solo properly. :smoke:
i think they just try to mix up easy & hard things to those songs that you mention to make a balance.:D:haihai:
i hope i'm making sense here:? I'M SO SORRY IF I'M NOT:sorry:. cause i'm really shy when it comes to letting out my views.
anyways, please have a great day everyone😍

hey, now ive been reading all the posts since last time i was here. nice to see the activity here : D and finally we're discussing music.

about the repeating of chords.. i dont think theyre doin it too much, and it wouldnt be cause of not practicing, more a cause of "lack of inspiration"? try listening to ac/dc and you'll experience repeating XD every song sounds the same..

property of reita, did ruki say that theyre starting "all over" again? interesting, cause its true, the dim album was really someting different. i havent liked all of what theyve done the last years. like distress and coma, before i decay. but suddenly the dim album came.. god i loved it! its a bit more experimental. a mix between different genres. and i heard many people complaining about the intros on it? personally i love intros and some instrumental work between songs. i like it when i can listen to an album as a whole, and the songs actually fit together and crosses over smoothly. i hope they will do more of that in the future. :-)

im so looking forward to hear the new single. what do you guys think it will sound like? or what do you hope for?

maurice; linkin park? saosin? simple plan? well.. i dont even want to say what i think of them XD most of these days' music is no good. gazette is one of very few bands i listen to who is still active today.

its so great watching the developement of gazette, and for me, i think theyre on the right way.

NINA dear i agree music today is no good. GAZETTE really is the artist today that i could play throughout my ipod. thay have a sense of creativity in their music.
no offense intended but guys here who tried playing guitar knows that compare to other artist gazette music is really way too complicated than other overrated western bands. but though complicated it really sound nice. the melody is still there.
regarding the music intro or instrumental in DIM i guess its nice. but i like the ANAGRA-SE from GAMA album.

Whoa, whoa, wait. You just said a mouthful there. Evidently that was based entirely upon the aforementioned American bands, I will assume that it is a jab at western music since I see this an awful lot with Japanese rock fans. That is a sweeping statement and I cannot agree with that since I listen to a lot of active western bands and I am not utterly fixated on Japan, nor do I have this irritating mindset of ツ'oh, everything from Japan is better because it is Japanese, everything western does not compare'.

A lot of currently active western bands are very good in comparison to Gazette. I am not talking about the crap you see on Kerrang that's just a carbon copy of the previous ツ'big thing' and I'm not just talking about rock either since that is a small section of the music industry, I'm talking about all the bands out there that are genuinely creative and ツ'fresh' just like Gazette. As seen in the western world with bands like Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance etc. Japan also have some truly crap bands that have been manufactured for a certain audience. You cannot generalise western music just with those kinds of bands, just as you cannot generalise Japanese music with bands like Gazette.

Also, a complicated song is not always the best - it may have no substance underneath it all, as I found with Before I Decay, just sayin'.

For the record, I don't listen to just American music (it's only a small percentage or my library). I listen to a lot of English music since we have quite a few good rock/alternative bands.

#Nina - I have read it somewhere, but I'm not sure if it's true. Anyway I hope it is. I love their expreimental sounds. It's always so refreshing & original & new! In the new songs as in the old ones, cuz they always have something :)
I also look forward to their new single! I'm really curious about it and can't wait to see/hear how it will turn out! Also can't wait to see the new PV. I thin's it's also going to be different this time *excited*

#maurice - Yea, I know what you're talking about. God knows that there's no Gaze-song I can play on my guitar xD But it makes them even better and greater musicians and artists

Since when was good music about looks? "We all know" No, we don't. Perhaps looks are important to you, but don't come saying they are so for everyone. For all I care Ruki can continue dressing like a gay christmas tree, his voice is still fantastic, and that's what counts when you listen to the music, at least for me. I don't sit and think about what they look like, I listen to the music.

@ maurice72714: You are mentioning typical sell-out bands that are put together mostly because their looks and because they can make music that isn't total crap (but close to). It's a bit like the making of korean boybands where they have auditions where the winners are judged by looks and voice. That does not necessarily equal good music.
I played the guitar a couple of years ago, and knew a couple of gazette's song, among others. I'll agree with you that their songs are generally not as easy as those of, for example, Linkin Park, but they aren't all that hard, and I thought songs from some western bands were harder to play and learn. Gazette is not an almighty band just because they are japanese. Also, think of where they got their inspiration from.
I also think it's absolutely ridiculous to claim that "the way western band play is like more or less half of the gazette's effort in creating music". How can you know? Do you play for all western bands?

I certainly do not agree about the $ocial Riot Machine$ sounds anything like zetsu. Where's the similarity? They're both heavier songs than Cassis, for example, but I really don't see much similarity other than that.

You're describing a very common way of making songs and presenting it like it's typical gazette, but I believe most bands "incorporate different melodies, riffs, solos, style of playing, etc. to make distinctions on which song is which". Here, again, you seem to be saying that many of gazette's songs are originally written from the same template with minor changes. I disagree.

Again, I disagree, and I really don't think you need to know how to play guitar to realise that gazette isn't "way more complicated than other overrated western bands". Again, gazette is not superior just because they're japanese.

Pretty much this.

#Lola - You misunderstood me. I did say it's important but I didn't say it's more important than music. I agree we would still love them even if they looked like "gay xmas tree" as long as their music is Gaze-rock we love -.- Ofc, I'm gonna love them 4ever and ever and no matter what, but would you really like to see Ruki dressed like a member of Jonas Brothers? o.O

@ Property of Reita: It might've sounded a bit harsh the way I typed it, but I really meant what I said. I don't care what Ruki looks like (not saying I don't think he looks good or that I don't appreciate his style - but this is beside my point that looks don't really have anything to do with music for me).
In my opinion he's had a couple of really bad outfits, and so have they all. I still don't like Reita's Guren hairdo, for example, nor Aoi's greasy, long hair and nose piercing.

I know very little about the Jonas brothers so I did a quick google search. If you by "dressed like a member of Jonas brothers" mean like the pictures that showed up there (casual), then yes, I would like to see that on Ruki. I like to see them in casual clothes too, and I absolutely love the few shoots where they are wearing suits.

There are so called fans who like the band based on looks so that if they made a drastic fashion change they would drop the band like a hot potato then they aren't fans.
If a person actually likes their music and says" Ruki's Leech costume is cool . I like it . " Nothing is wrong with that:-). Just like Diru who have a large fanbase though their look changed I doubt GazettE will lose theirs if they changed.

Nothing is really wrong if they dress casual like the J Brothers just as long as they don't do like them ex. Singing cheesy love stuff ( to me Ruki's lyrics are more poetic ) and dancing single ladies in tight full body suits .

This I like GazettE better cause they are Japanese mentality is silly ! Nationality should not be a factor as Lola said it's the music that counts. Japanese modern music was influenced by the West so it's silly to an extent. I don't know if the statement stems from people who see GazettE as more down to earth than western bands.:?:
There are cases where people like me prefer GazettE over local music and american mainstream but that's our opinion and it doesn't mean that GazE are better than other bands.:p

@ Nina - I think their next single would be a slow tempo song around the likes of Regret and D & C since Before I Decay was a heavy song but I'm just speculating so i can be wrong.
