Sick of religious proselytizing.

Recently, I've noticed there has been a sudden increase of topics created deceptively to promote Islam in the serious discussion forum. Certainly, it isn't just Islamic pushing, but there have been others who have done this in the past for previous religions (Sokka Gakai, and Christianity comes to mind), but Islam seems to be the religion of the week now.

Simply put, there is no discussion with these posters on these threads. There is no reasoning with them and no reciprocal communication. While I enjoy reading discussion and debates between different ways of thinking and do not want conversations on religion (or any topic) to be prevented, there is only one zealot religious side screaming about moons splitting in half and quoting religious text, while ignoring (or maybe simply never understanding what is said to them) all other posters other than a few troll-like sentences to spur things on. Many of these are including outright hate messages calling for the removal of non-believers or their favorite target, Israel.

Seriously, this needs to stop. I'm all for discussion, but these types of ninja -est proselytizing threads are not good for JRef, and it seems to be the sole purpose for joining.

I already said to one of the Moderators to Prevent the religious topics because there is not an end for this type of threads.
I always wanted JREF to be free of these issues witch are not related to Japan !

I absolutely do NOT want to shut down topics about religion or any topic at all for that matter, especially serious discussion just because some idiots can't behave or don't have the brain capacity to hold a conversation or make an argument. Talking, conversation, debate is absolutely critical for a forum to have, especially in a free-for-all serious discussion forum. To block out topics concerning religion would be exactly what these sort of simple minded kids would want, and conversation on this needs to take place, not be blocked just like it is in third-world countries! If all topics on religion were shut down then I would be the first person to protest, and I'm an atheist! There must be freedom of conversation and to question and debate.

The problem is that simply starting religious topics which then become clearly just another means to ignore all others and proselytize your specific religion, isn't a discussion, it is propaganda/spam that no one wants to hear and one asked for.

Only a few people are doing this crap, it is obvious who, and this needs to be taken a little more seriously in my opinion.

Mohamad has been warned about preaching and I will crack down on him if he does. I feel he is a young lad with not a very good comprehension of english and delving into topics he doesn't fully understand.

Timeous and his various sockpuppet accounts are hopefully being dealt with on a more permanent basis. He is just your basic internet troll and will keep getting banned and his posts deleted if he shows up again. Best ignore him and the mods will deal with any crap he puts up.

You are right about Islam being flavour of the month at the moment. I post on RD.net and we have recently had an influx of muslim members spouting the usual nonsense. I will attempt to moderate a bit more on any religious threads and shall remove and warn anyone preaching and the same goes for hate messaging.

BTW the recent Palestinian thread has been locked and I might lock the What religion and why thread? if we get more preaching on it.

I agree. Though I enjoy discussions concerning beliefs and systems of thought, those threads were all about preaching.

They old people don't get mad like 20 do and the old people have more information and better points than 20-25 age.

Thank God. I am tired of seeing threads about Islam in a Japanese forum. Islam is about as relevant to Japan as Judaism is in a forum about Maori.

In Arabic forums there is always a section for religions or at least Islamic section,about 99% of them.

The problem is no one Shinto/Budhist member post in Arabic.
For example:
The biggest Islamic forum ( Ommah ) includes a forum for All religions to discuss and compare all religions.
