Konniti wa. Andrew to moosimasu.

I've just finished my second year of Japanese and will begin my third in the fall. After that I plan to go to Japan to teach. In the meantime I hope to hang around here for a while and learn about Japan.

As someone who has had two years of Japanese, you should know that (1) it's は, not わ, and that (2) the preferred form is こんにちは (今日は generally being read as "kyô wa"). Naughty.

Do you know where in Japan you want to go?

You're right about the "は" (oops ), but the kanji version is what we use in class (we've been taught it could be read as either kyoo wa or konniti wa, depending on context). Perhaps I'll take it up with the sensee (yeah, our romanji is a little different from what most people use too, but that's "Japanese: The Spoken Language" for you) when classes resume in the fall.

I haven't decided on a spot yet, but I'm looking into it to see what I think I'll like best.

I sometimes see こんにちわ written on the internet...maybe to look more cute? What I have never seen is konnchiha written in Kanji ^^; Is it very common to write konnichiha in kanji? I dont know if I saw it I might tend to to read it as "Kyou ha".

Are you going to teach English in Japan?
If so, you should be aware that most Japanese people are bad at English even though most of us are supposed to learn the language for at least six years.

It's very hard to teach something to anyone who is not motivated.

I recommend that you teach in an English language school, not in a normal school.

Thanks for the tip. My main goal is to get into the JET Programme to teach and live abroad. I'm not sure how much choice they'll give me in what school I go into, but they do allow you to say what region you would prefer to work in and they'll try to accommodate you.
