I have had many debates with people on this subject.

If you could fly, like superman, would you? and when? would you where a diguise to hide yourself from people when you did fly?

but a more serious question:

If everyone in the world could suddenly fly, how would the world change?

I believe we would stop using cars all together. I believe new clothing lines would come out for people who wish to fly overseas. I believe even higher security would be put out for "flying objects".

Countries would suddenly be afaird to look up, think about this:

A army flys into your city in the died of night. Your child is taken right in the middle of the street and flown miles away.

It may sound childish to think on. But none the less it is something to think about.

It's much more fun to just dream about it.

If people, all people--including the youngster that just starts to learn how to fly after having first learned to walk about--could suddenly fly, I would tend to think that the first thing that would happen, before social groups or national political groups could act on it, would be a sudden and sharp increase in accidental deaths and injuries due to flying people. Of course, however, that would depend on the flying speeds possible.

I'd think the limit on your speed would be you ablity to survive the winds "burning" your skin from your body, eep, scary

First and foremost, I think that if it required any physical exertion whatsoever, most people around the world would stick to driving. Its just like walking, many people avoid it if possible.

Anywho, on to the fun stuff. Immediately following the gaining of the ability to fly, there would be, as has been said before, many accidents. I believe the most common of these would be indoor crashes; idiots trying to fly around inside of a crowded office or highschool hallway. Another immediate change would be a drastic increase in anti-air technology by the various militaries of the world. I believe that, if airborn armies were common, many nations would opt to start building the majority of their infrastructure beneath the ground. As far as long term issues would go, I believe that the transportation business would almost completely die out, although things such as ships and trains would always be around to carry the large amounts of goods needed by society. I also forsee the growth of more three dimensional spaces, such as vertical cities. Perhaps even three dimensional maps in which borders vary depending on altitude. I also believe that information would travel at much quicker rates that it currently does, due to the ability of reporters to fly to the scene of a crime. So I believe that the Aerial Revolution, just like all revolutions, would bring with it both positive and negative aspects.

Damn... I crave for wings. Just imagine! Although its very likely that some people would stick to driving as stated above (mainly the old and ill I think), but generally, due to our new capabilities we would become healthier, simply because the air is a complete different world, when you're up there you can't mess about, its all serious, so you'd do loads of exercise just by flying about.

Thats really hard to do...

When posting yesterday here, I was on the border line of whether to leave it in Serious Discussions or not, and gave it a shot there. Having gone over the trend in the thread, I have not concluded that it fits here in Chit Chat much better.

We'd have to watch out for drunk fliers--and there would be the banners that folks could attach to themselves as they went up which read--Don't Drink and Fly !. And maybe we'd have to be careful robbery in highrises much more than before--not to mention peeping toms and those guys who may be too lazy to wanna land when nature calls...

But then again, when some natural emergency comes, you wouldn't have problems like those caused by the highways being jammmed (such as back in Texas, when one hurricane had been due to arrive, and some elder people in a bus (I think it was) died...and so on), because everyone would just instantly take to the skies !! Just like the bats that come out of Carlsbad Caverns in the early evenings...just a'swarming !!

Well...there are advantages and disadvantages I guess... we'd need to make it more tiring than walking to keep things alright

Well, I don't think we have to change that.
Try to lift your feet and your upper body when your on the floor.
Thats almost the same as flying, you can keep that pose for a few minutes maybe before you get tired.
But how are we going to do that in the air?☝
