Especially for my Martian brother:

Life on Mars? Amazing photos from Nasa probe reveal mystery figure on Red Planet

LifeOnMarsBARC_468x290-1.webp

My dad reckons his name's John Carter ;-)

For a brief moment I thought this was about the TV series.

I saw the picture and it looks a lot like the still from the Bigfoot film. Maybe Bigfoot has gone to Mars. I think we should be told the truth by our resident Martian

Perhaps that was J'onn J'onzz (a.k.a. DC Comics' Martian Manhunter) out for a stroll. Well, ya never know!
:D

Poor guy!

Look down and to the right. You can see her husband's poor lifeless body. Looks like she just got done shoving him off the cliff? Goes to show, no mater what planet you are on, don't make a woman angry.

Uncle Frank

😊

Hah! Very interesting indeed. I myself have a hard time believing this, as one would think any life having evolved on Mars would certainly not be humanoid in any way; the conditions are just too extreme. The picture just isn't clear enough. Then again...you never know! Mars Man-san, is that your cousin? Or perhaps a lonely long-lost love you left behind? Please, don't keep the world in suspense any longer!

I'd say it's just an optical illusion. The skin colour of the "martian lady" is quite similar to the rocks nearby her.

I've seen quite alot of pictures from Mars in which human-like corpes would be burried in the sand. Maybe a long time ago conditions were fair enough for a martian race to live, knowing that there is water and the temperatures aren't extremely hot/cold.

Well, folks. . . you can all go home now, it's just the light, angle, and strangely shaped wind blown rocks there. You see, Half-n-Half san had it right; before the meteor storm that destroyed the atmosphere--or reconditioned it, would be a better way to put it--even, we didn't have humanoid forms, really. Way back then, we were more of a soft shelled 'nebulous' form...not with a solid bone structure. And, of course, we were much smaller than the size of those rocks there.

Now if you were to look at some of the nanobe (microbe) shapes that can be found on earth, you might get a little better of an idea of the lengths those left had to adapt into--for example a formaminitera. So it was easy for us to adapt into the human form too, (I don't mean take the form of) but we are still there...in the head...we just took over the then present life forms that were here at the time. So those of us who came here, are still here...but not every human is acting as a host.

But you are also right in a way, Uncle Frank, I have heard of stories about the occasional angered 'female?' (if we can use that term) pushing into her partner. What happened in such cases is that the 'female' absorbs the partner--which actually was simply another element of reproductive strategy; a reverse element. I'm quite certain that that element was mishievously recorded by Martian influence in the concept of two beings' marrying, becoming one flesh.

It is a nice photo, though I'm not familar with that area, however. Thanks for sharing my dear Martian sister !

Some of the comments on The Times website about this photo were absolutely classic:

"I bought that same coat from H&M last week! How cool is that?"

"I'm pleased to see he's holding a can of beer!"

"Looks like Lord Lucan to me"

etc.

i think that's only a weird rock with the shape of an human... x)

it was just tsuyoiko playing around again on mars with mars man and the Mars rover just happened to catch it off to the side.....as the martians fumbled at the latches.....

Congratulations den4! You win the jackpot for correctly interpreting the pic! Busted! :p

Doesn't that picture remind you of Yeti, or Bigfoot, perhaps? Hmmm......

Ahhh....shucks, Tsuyoiko chan....how's I'm supposed to explain this to the little lady this time (now that the cat's out of the bag)...up on Mars playing around again...oh boy, oh girl...off to do some thinking here.....(but it was great, wasn't it....hee, hee,hee.....)

Is that, it is, I think, maybe... YES IT IS! IT IS Mars_Man the moderator from JREF! :-)

Well, since the secret is no longer a secret, I guess I'll go ahead and confess up. Yes, and no. That main figure you see there is Tsuyoiko chan...my Martian 'sister,' and I'm down on the rock just below, head towards the camera, belly up, looking to my right, left arm out for balance.

We were meeting each other there as we regularly do evey close-swing (when the planet's closest to Earth in its orbit) and I had snuck up behind her, and put my hands over her eyes--you know, the ole, 'who is it?' game--but I had forgotten about my dear sis's tendency to sometimes react before thinking (in such situations) and she bent forward a little while slinging me right over her shoulder. A very quick and sharp throw that was...and she's not even near black belt level yet.

Thank goodness the gravity strength is a little less than Earth's, and I happen to be used to being thrown...that rock didn't hurt that much.

Our brains are wired to find familiar shapes. People can find "faces" in random dots on a piece of paper, it's just our nature.

Yeah, sorry about that Mars 😊

*hands a bandaid* ;-)
