racism in Australia: Bilateral relations

Where did you hear that Australians are racist to Japanese? Do you base this on one advert (which doesn't even make sense?? Is it really even Australian??)?
I have a dual nationality, i am half English and half Australian and i have lived in Australia at numerous points in my life for long periods of time. In Australia you see many Japanese people but i have never seen or heard of any racism, intolerance or discomfort between Japanese and Australians. Actually there is real tolerance and unity between Australians and Japanese in Australia, there are a lot of Japanese schools, markets, shops and restaurants and other businesses etc which are very much Japanese run places (and not at all touristy and cheap or anything like that) which are thriving and which happily cater to both Japanese and Australians. My two male Australian cousins in fact both go to Japanese schools even though they are white Australians, they speak Japanese very fluently and have many Japanese friends etc (my Aunt taught English in Japan for many years but a couple of years after she had her first son she moved back to Australia, however she had grown very attached to Japan and Japanese ways of life so when she moved back to Australia she carried on living the Japanese lifestyle with her husband and she has many Japanese friends who live in her area in Australia etc)

Aborigines and white Australians are sometimes a different matter though, but then again there are a lot of unsolved issues between the two people's and Aborigine communities can often suffer from bad drug and alcohol abuse and domestic violence and general crime and low employment rate problems, many of these problems are the fault of the aborigines alone and this makes it difficult for the two peoples to co-exist etc. But these issues are less about racism and more about how to deal with the many problems aborigines face in society.

It could not be further from the truth.
My wife is Japanese. We live in a town named Cairns, which is located in the state of Queensland far up North in the tropics.
We have a huge Japanese community, population, students, and huge Japanese tourist market here.
You will find many Aussies here speak Japanese and have been to Japan.
The Japanese in Cairns are loved and respected. They have an immacualte reputation.
I do not understand where you are getting this racism from, I am guessing you wish to belive it for your own personal entertainment, and it really si very silly.
My home town is Sydney. I come from an area located between Sydney harbour and the coast.
Once again, I grew up watching coach loads of Japanese tourists stopping at the park to observe the glorious views of Sydney Harbour.
They would often want their photo taken with me as a "Kawaii" Aussie kid, although my mother thought I was a monster!
Japanese in Australia are well in, very well liked, have a top reputation.
The Australian and Japanese governments share many agreements, plus we share loads of friendship and sister cities.
We home-stays, exchange student programmes, you name it, Japan and Australia share it..
We even had Aussie troops sent to Iraq specifically to protect Japanese soldiers.
Where do you get your information from?
I would suggest you stay away from your loved YouTube site, and don't take things so concretely on the site.

I've never personally seen racism towards asians in Australia, usually it's the greeks or the italians having a go at each other, they must be violent countries or something.
Australia is very peaceful, probably one of the most peaceful English-speaking countries in the world, so no need to worry
Asians also make up a significant part of our population too. From looking around adelaide it seems to be 1/3 is asian, and I hear there is a huge community in Melbourne.
If you come here, don't worry about such things. Just have a good time

I would say, stick to friends and forget the other ones, that suggest aussis to be racists, as some whalers wish to build up. Its completely overheated and a very cheap PR trick.

I myself have never been to Australia, but my sister has and she had a great time there.
And I know some Australians and they are really nice and friendly. As some people posted above, my Australian friends say that there are many Asians in Australia and they have many Asian friends.
So, don't worry. You'll have a fab time there.

Caster, relax! Thats mainly funny! It deals with the strange very questionable scientific label, trying to make clear, how absurd it is, thats all.
I don't think, they hate Japanese at all there, nor would they really kill one.

The videos aren't in very good taste, but they are meant to be funny. The Japanese people in the second video didn't seem to have much trouble grasping the joke, with the exception of the ambassador.

My japanese friend has lived in Australia for 6 years and not once has he ever faced any racial problem here. I have another friend who's lived here for 4 years and never faced an issue either.
Stop searching YouTube for racist australian videos and stop worrying! There are lots of people posting videos but you might notice that the people doing so are racist themselves. For example the user daisk5 ONLY posts racist videos about Australia, does this make Japanese people racist? Of course not.
Are all Japanese people like this? I have trouble thinking so.
