Hello everyone!
I just joined the forum and am looking forward to interacting with the community here. I have been to Japan once to meet a very good friend, now fiancee, and really loved it there. I have many questions about Japan and I enjoy talking about it in general. We are not quite sure which country we want to live in at the moment and some of my questions will be about life in Japan for gaijin and also about finding work there. I have read a few of the posts in this forum and it seems like you are, for the most part, a nice and helpful group. I hope I can meet many wonderful and helpful people!

I can't wait for my next visit to Japan in October. I will be meeting her parents and family and have been studying Japanese so that I can talk with them. I hope to be able to hold at least a simple conversation with them.

That does sound so exciting !! The burden, of course, will be on her to show to her own parents, the depth of her attachment to you, and her belief in you as a person and a provider for the future family. (of course this is a bit general a description, but ...)

I wish you the best with your learning !! That will be a big matter with the father, especially !! Try to know his likes and dislikes from your future wife, in advance. That would be helpful. MM
