Tell me, what are the similarities between your homecountry and japan?
Me it's probably politeness, small surface and sexy people >.>!

Hm!! Good question!! I think there are not many similarities between Holland and Japan..

Well maybe one thing: baseball. The Japanese are obviously good at baseball, and the Dutch are also very good, in European terms that is.

But regarding politeness, food, openness, buildings, roads, work ethic, hygene, humor, women, family values, art.. I can't seem to find any similarities!!

we're all human with human tendencies, and in this respect Japan is no different from any other nation. I think trying to enumerate perceived similarities or differences between two large groups of people is a meaningless endeavor.

What similarities have you with your next door neighbor? How about the guy down the block? How about everyone who lives in the Bronx?

Flanders and Japan?

They both bleed, breath air, have pain, hunger...

Characteristics? The majority of people here don't like immigrants. But it's not them to blame, it's society and politicians that makes them think and act like that.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean japanese people only (althought my country and japan have little similarities other than values and how people "rated the way we looked"), just random facts you know? Weather, values, Clothes( for example our traditional clothing looks like indian traditional clothes, as a matter of fact they have tons of stores in my homecountry),Landscape maybe ? I should have been more specific I guess.

Of course japan has similarities and differences with other nations, And if I want to know them I can ask. It's not meaningless, maybe other people want to know too.

I meant that Japanese people always seem to be proud and confident in themselves and there country like a lot of Germans,brits and Jewish people

All these people are part of my bloodline

I'm confused, are you replying to me or to Miki?
If you are:
Well the shinto and buddist religion did not originate from africa or europe or south america so it makes sense that the religion is more prevalent in asia no? So yes religion does have something to do "nationality"[not exactly nationality more like regions] with it most of the time. I mean how many buddists compared to christians do you have in Brazil? You can't just dump everyone in the same package althought you can find some common ground, which is what I'm trying to find out. I mean even though we're all different we all have some things in common, so since I'm on a japanese site I wanted to know what they are between "x country" and japan...

- England an Japan are both islands...
- We both drive on the "correct" side of the road.
- Our populations are perceived to be very polite, respectable people.
- Marmite, you either love it or hate it... same deal with Natto (i love both btw)
- We both have royal families and prime ministers. I think the Japanese government is based on the Westminster model too.
(thinking very hard now)
- The climates are pretty similar, although Japan is somewhat hotter.
- Japanese "curry rice" is based on British curry... (i think i saw that was on trivia no izumi)
- Samurai "bushido" and Medieval knight's chivalry.
- "Sailor suits" based on British uniforms.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

definitely. i'm tired of all this "let's try to blanket Japan in one cozy adjective!" stuff. I've had enough of that from the Jrock fans ("All J-guys are sexy!" ...And a lot of times they haven't even been to Japan!)

Here's one similarity, though- both peoples are different, and not one-word descriptions.
