A general chat for beginners who don't have the feature or typing in Japanese, or you just want to have conversations in romaji.

RULES:

1. DO NOT type in hiragana/katakana/kanji
2. ALWAYS type in romaji (if you want to type something in English, put it in parenthesis)
3. Have fun!

Basically what we're saying is that using ro-maji will not help you in the long run, and highly recommend that you install Japanese, and use kana and maybe some simple kanji.
Ro-maji will also affect your pronunciation (just think of how Americans say words like karaoke (kerioki), kamikaze (kamakazi), To(u)kyo(u) (Toki-o)...). Ii desu ka?
It is just better to learn "real" Japanese, you know what I'm saying?

Sou desu yo. Hiragana to katakana to kanji o tsukawanakereba, zenbu wasurechau yo.
(Yes - if you don't use hiragana and katakana and kanji, you'll forget all of it.)

That's probably the only advantadge I have when learning japanese, because my native language is Spanish, therefore while I don't claim I sound like a native, pronounciation is certainly not that big of a deal either.

I am merely a beginner, but I don't see how using roumaji will affect his pronounciation so long as he keeps is mind 'i' sounds like "ee", "a" sounds like "ah", and so on.

kyatto, thanks for the reply. I think I got the overall idea of what you were trying to say. However, as it has been pointed out that roumaji chat is not productive enough for learning japanese, we'll continue it on some other occasion with kanji where I'll most likely not understand. :p

Tatoeba, Nihon de ha oshiete iru romaji no kakikata ha chotto chigau to omoimasu. Hitsotsu ha, [h (shuu)] janakute [y (shyu)] to iu tsukau you ni omoimasu. Iroirona romaji no type ga aru kara [Shyu] ya [tch] nado wo miru dake de, hatsuon shikata no ka amari rikai dekimasen ne.

Sou desu ne, Elizabeth-san. Moshi, nihongo ga ryuuchou ni hanasetara, ro-maji wo tukattemo kamaimasen yone. Demo!, nihongo ga dekitara, ro-maji wo tukau riyuu nante nai'n deshou ne...

It's hilarious how everyone keeps going on and on in romaji about why going on and on in romaji is such a bad idea.

Yeah, I keep wondering why y'all are even bothering with it.

For those that are on their first stages of learning, roumaji is probably the only thing they can afford to do to practice conversational patterns. On the other hand, if you properly use online tools kanji becomes easier to understand as opposed to roumaji.

to omoimasu. 😌

I was talking about the people who are advanced and keep saying that romaji is awful but continue to participate in the discussion using romaji, not the beginners.

like i said, if you don't have he feature of typing in Japanese, which I don't, type in romaji. i made this chat for people who cant type in japanese....
