Travel news from Ube, even @musicisgood will not be aware of: the city in Yamaguchi Prefecture has installed an over seven-meter-long spear inspired by the animation series "Neon Genesis Evangelion". Ube's urban environment provided the backdrop for a film adaptation of the series. The replica of the "Spear of Longinus," the giant extraterrestrial weapon that plays a vital role in the story, pierces the ground in Tokiwa Park in Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the city where the series director Hideaki Anno was born.

The spear is the work of young employees at Ube Steel Co., a unit of chemical manufacturer Ube Corp., which has many plants in the city. The employees first proposed creating the spear in July last year, and about 40 people became involved in using scrap steel and other materials to make the sculpture, which weighs about 1.2 tons. They recreated the characteristic spiral design of the spear's shaft following repeated exchanges with the series' copyright management, they said. At an opening ceremony last month, Ube Steel President Hisao Yamane recalled how he "never thought (the project) would come to fruition."

Been to Tokiwa park many times. This news is news to me. See if you can find news about Yudaonsen, Yamaguchi. That seems to be where my shadow is these days. Did try to live in Ishigaki, but it didn't work out. Life is like the wind for me. Hope I'm not too serious about that.

Are you still in Ishigaki?
No I left the island on November 3rd Friday . I had actually planned to stay up until the middle of December but I had to cut my camping and cycling short due to some business here in Yamaguchi that have to take care of but yeah I'm back and planning on another cycling trip .I'm getting a new t-shirt made it's pretty cool I hope it materializes that I'm counting on the artist to fulfill his commitment. he's already done it but what I wanted to change one word thanks to the grammar people we have here on the form to help me along that's coming out pretty good actually.
