I keep a male dog of the 9-month-old Border collie.
I am doing "a sitting trick" and an exercise of "wait" to a dog, but the dog does not readily learn it.
Please tell me the training method of the good dog.

Training a dog can be a challenging task, but with patience and consistency, your Border Collie can learn the "sitting trick" and "wait" exercises. Here are some tips to help you with your training:

1. Start with short sessions: Dogs have a short attention span, so keep your training sessions brief and focused. Start with 5-10 minutes per session and gradually increase the time as your dog improves.

2. Use positive reinforcement: Positive reinforcement is the most effective way to train a dog. Use treats or praise to reward your dog when he performs the desired behavior. This will encourage him to repeat the behavior.

3. Be consistent: Dogs learn through repetition and consistency. Use the same command and hand signals every time you train your dog. This will help him understand what is expected of him.

4. Break down the training: Break the training into small steps. For example, if you want to teach your dog to sit, start by getting him to lower his head, then move your hand with the treat up and back towards his tail. This will encourage him to sit down.

5. Use a clicker: Clicker training is an effective way to train a dog. The clicker makes a distinct sound that your dog will associate with a reward. Click the clicker when your dog performs the desired behavior, then give him a treat.

6. Be patient: Training a dog takes time and patience. Don't get frustrated if your dog doesn't learn the behavior right away. Keep practicing and be consistent with your training.

Remember, training your dog is a lifelong process. Keep practicing and reinforcing the behaviors you want your dog to learn, and he will eventually master them.

Barking is a natural behavior for dogs, but excessive barking can be a problem. Here are some tips to help you stop your dog from barking:

1. Identify the cause: Dogs bark for different reasons, such as boredom, fear, or excitement. Try to identify the cause of your dog's barking so you can address the underlying issue.

2. Ignore the barking: Dogs often bark to get attention. If you respond to your dog's barking, you are reinforcing the behavior. Instead, ignore the barking and reward your dog when he is quiet.

3. Teach the "quiet" command: Teach your dog the "quiet" command by saying it in a firm but calm voice when he barks. When he stops barking, reward him with a treat or praise.

4. Provide mental and physical stimulation: Boredom can lead to excessive barking. Provide your dog with plenty of mental and physical stimulation, such as toys, games, and walks.

5. Don't punish your dog: Punishing your dog for barking can make the problem worse. It can also damage your relationship with your dog. Instead, use positive reinforcement to encourage quiet behavior.

6. Consider professional help: If your dog's barking is excessive or you are struggling to address the issue, consider seeking professional help from a dog trainer or behaviorist.

Remember, stopping your dog from barking takes time and patience. Be consistent with your training and reward your dog for quiet behavior. With time and effort, your dog can learn to bark less and be a better companion.

As a porter collie is an activity dog, 4km takes a walk for two hours of morning and evening.
Is there the method to let you exercise other than the dog walking?

Yes, there are many ways to provide exercise and mental stimulation for a Border Collie beyond just walking. Here are some ideas:

1. Agility training: Border Collies excel at agility training, which involves running through obstacle courses. This can be a great way to provide exercise and mental stimulation for your dog.

2. Fetch: Border Collies love to fetch, and it's a great way to provide exercise. You can use a ball, frisbee, or other toys to play fetch with your dog.

3. Swimming: Many Border Collies enjoy swimming, and it's a great low-impact exercise. If you have access to a pool or a safe body of water, consider taking your dog for a swim.

4. Hiking: Border Collies are great hiking companions, and it's a great way to provide exercise and mental stimulation. Find local trails or parks where you can take your dog for a hike.

5. Puzzle toys: Border Collies are intelligent dogs, and they enjoy solving puzzles. Consider getting puzzle toys or treat-dispensing toys to keep your dog mentally stimulated.

6. Obedience training: Obedience training is a great way to provide mental stimulation for your Border Collie. Teach your dog new commands or tricks to keep their mind active.

Remember, Border Collies are high-energy dogs that require a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. Try to vary their activities and provide new challenges to keep them engaged and happy.
