Centre for Advanced Radiation Emergency Medicine (CAREM) – 高度被ばく医療センター (Kōdo Hibaku Iryō Sentā) – is part of the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST). Based at QST Hospital in Chiba, the centre serves as Japan's leading institution for the treatment of radiation exposure and nuclear emergencies. It provides specialised medical care, conducts research into radiation injuries and dosimetry, trains medical professionals, and plays a central role in Japan's preparedness for nuclear accidents and radiological incidents. CAREM also works closely with domestic and international organisations to advance radiation emergency medicine and improve response capabilities.
