A four-star hotel directly opposite the Karasuma Central Exit of JR Kyoto Station

Item details

Hotel New Hankyu Kyoto (京都新阪急ホテル) is a four-star hotel operated by the Hankyu-Hanshin-Daiichi Hotel Group, occupying a prime location directly opposite the Karasuma Central Exit of JR Kyoto Station. Opened in 1981, the hotel offers 325 guest rooms ranging from single and studio twin rooms to spacious twin and triple accommodation, with interiors renovated in 2015 to incorporate traditional Kyoto design elements such as Kyōkarakami decorative paper and patterns inspired by Nishijin brocade. Dining options include a buffet restaurant, a traditional Kyoto kaiseki restaurant, a teppanyaki steakhouse and a cocktail bar, while banquet and conference facilities cater to business and private events. Its central location provides convenient access to Kyoto's extensive rail, subway and bus networks, making it an ideal base for exploring attractions such as Kyoto Tower, Higashi Hongan-ji, Nishi Hongan-ji and the city's historic districts, as well as for day trips throughout the Kansai region. The hotel is approximately three minutes on foot from JR Kyoto Station, around 55 minutes by airport limousine bus from Osaka Itami Airport and about 80 minutes from Kansai International Airport via the JR Haruka express. Hankyu Hanshin Hotels announced that Hotel New Hankyu Kyoto will cease operations on 17 January 2027 after more than 45 years in business.
