Hi,
My wife and I will be travelling to Takayama in mid April 2015 and we would like to see the Alps and maybe do a walk for 2-3 days or so. Can anyone around tell us ツ…
1 ... if it is possible to walk/hike the Alps in mid or late April?
2. ... if huts and trails are open and transportation to/from eg. Kamikochi is fine?
3 ... the best, most scenic, easy walk/hike to do in the Alps spending 2 days?
If not possible, can anyone recommend an alternative?
Any help is much appreciated
Kind regards
Thomas

I went to Toyama and Kurube (Kurobe, Toyama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) for Golden Week, in early May, and there was literally three meters of snow in places, two in most.

It would depend how high in the mountains you go. If you stay at a lower altitude (maybe 1 km), it would be fine. The view wasn't so great at that time either from way up, as there was solid clouds.

While looking up that pic, I found another pic. Crazy. Poor guy hiking though that.

Wow - we hoped for some cold but scenic walks from Kamikochi with a night or two in huts along the trail. That is a lot of snow, so we probably have to reconsider this part. Yeah, poor guy - looks like Tintin in Tibet...
