Hi everyone.

I'm mostly a sneaker when it comes to forums. But I kind of need a little help, that's why I'm posting.

I need to know how this this poem by Wakayama Bokusui was "originally" written (in Kanji/Hiragana):

Iku yamakawa
Koesari yukaba
Sabishisa no
Hatenan kuni zo
Kyou mo tabi yuku

Have searched for literature at my university that might contain this poem without success.

Thank you for the help.

It seems to be this:

And then continues:

Thanks a lot for the fast reply Glenn.

And how would you translate the last part into English?

I'm not totally sure, but maybe something like "again today my heart is struck; I wander about, as my heart is struck." The poetic nature of the bell of one's heart being rung (窶堋ア窶堋ア窶堙ォ窶堙個湘樞?堙ー窶堋、窶堋ソ窶禿や?堙ァ窶堋オ) is a bit hard for me to put into English, so my translation probably isn't all that good. And I don't know what would be ringing it. It may be intentionally ambiguous, just saying that something did, and that's all that's important.

But anyway, that happens, and the author is struck by something, so goes out and wanders around. That seems to be the gist of it. Maybe someone else will do better.

There seems to be several different versions of the description of the poem.

This is the one printed in his anthology ナ?C窶堙個青コ and 窶「テ岩?板」. The readings 窶堙 and 窶堋ッ窶堙 was given alongside the kanji.

And this is the one in his calligraphy.

By the way, the romaji you gave us has some typos.;-)

Thanks for correcting the romanji.

The issue with your link is that I can not understand enough (at the moment). Thank you anyway.

Edit: It seems that there are not a lot written about Wakayama and his poems in English, sadly.

Here are a few English translations of his poems from a book "Jニ置ニ停?愴狸ニ誰ツ ツ〜窶ーpナ津ェ窶堙?出窶ーテッ窶堋「ツ、窶愿コ窶怒ナ津ェ窶堙ー窶督。窶堙ュ窶堋、窶督シツ催ャ50" edited by Robert Campbell.
