Visa period reduced on 3rd extension

I am also foreigner guy living in Japan since 10 years.
Here is history of my Visa.
2004 Feb to 2005 (1 year Engineer visa)
2005 Feb to 2008 (3 year Engineer visa)
2008 Feb to 2011 (3 year Engineer visa)
I married to Japanese in year end of 2010.
2011 Feb to 2014 (3 year Spouse visa)
2014 Feb to 2015 (1 year Spouse visa)
We have 3 years old son also. Immigration told me that you are living separately that is why they gave 1 years visa and they told that they will see the situation this year and then decide the span for next extension.
We have to live separare because of son`s care and my moving job situtation. I am working continuously as IT engineer since 10 years. I was only unemployed for 9 months from September 2011 to May2012. I am paying all income taxes, insurances, city tax, pension. I have clean record.
Some expert told me that if you start living together as soon as possible then there is high chance of getting 3 years visa next time. Please let me know if anybody has similar experience. It will be hlpful if you share your experience and opinion. What will happen to my next extension.

You can't do much to fight some people's way of thinking at immigration. Many Japanese live apart from their wives and children, yet nobody imagines that a foreigner should be able to do that, so that's why immigration makes it difficult sometimes.

I suggest that at this point you stop renewing your spouse visa and instead apply for Permanent Resident status. Once you have that, it doesn't have to be renewed...ever! You only update your card every 7 years.

In your application there is only a tiny space to answer the question of why you want to remain here as PR status. You might want to attach some note explaining (in Japanese) your living arrangements.

Thanks for your kind reply. I applied for PR when I extended my spouse visa in November 2013.
I submitted my yearly income certificate and employment certificate for PR. I am still on 3 years spouse visa till Feb 2014. My extended visa period is from Feb2014 to Feb2015. I dont know what will happen to my PR application. My all documents are strong. My strong point may be working continuously as IT engineer, paying everything, we have son, we both are working and we have stable life too. The weak points are: we are not living together and I have 1 years visa extension. But we mentioned the reason for separate living.

If living together is man strong condition for immigration, then foreigner husband may not get job nearby location. In my case, my wife has permanent job near her home. My job location is not stable. So I have to live far from wife many times. I heard that if foreigner husband & Japanese wife live married life together for more than 3 years, the husband may not be working or earning money. If they apply PR, they get very easily.

PR can take a long time, so renew your visa until you hear about the PR. It might take only a month longer, or could be much more. Be patient.
