Translation problem with 回・度

Hi!
I have a big problem with this sentences:
猫は(五度/五回)生まれ変わると言います。
猫は五生きゅうしょうあり。
I have to translate it and choose appropriate word (回・度).
And sincerely I am completly lost.
I have tried something like:
It is said that the cats are born 3 times
But sincerely this sounds weird to me Is it some kind of idiomatic expression? Or I just made some grave mistake?

五度 would more common but 五回 is also correct. (Although 五 is five.)
The second one would be a proverb 猫に九生あり, which is the translation of an English proverb "A cat has nine lives."
