I feel awful for not getting this right away since I know all of it's constituent parts, but I need to make sure of the meaning.
「私が教える１２２のS.I.になりたいそうですが、いい ですよ。」
122 = JPNE 122 Beginning Japanese II
S.I. = supplemental instruction/instructor
I believe this to mean "I understand that you want to be the supplemental instructor for my class, and that will be fine."
Please tell me I'm right lol (unless of course I'm wrong...then let me down gently lol).
Once again, the が in the beginning threw me...I wanted to think 私 was the subject of the entire sentence at first, but the more I read it, I believe it goes with 教える to mean "the class I will teach."
Also, the が after そうです seems to be functioning more like "and" than "but" here. Is this an acceptable translation in this case?
I only know the version of そうです used here (I'm more familiar with the そうです used to describe that something seems like something) vaguely as meaning "I hear", I already told 先生 that I wanted to be the S.I. for this class, so "I hear" seems odd, but I figure it just sort of means "I've heard what you said and understand".
...I actually used Google Translate to try and get the basic meaning of this sentence...as usual it's not that great...but I need to get so much better than needing to rely on that near-useless thing.
