Timing for the seasons

I'm making my travel plans and I'm trying to figure the best time for viewing the seasonal changes. I'd like to see the fall colors around Kyoto and would like to catch the Sakura season, but that will probably have to wait for next year, as I'm going to Toronto this spring and Scotland in the summer.

Anyone have a recommendation for the best time to plan a two week visit for the fall colors?
