Things to read

hi....
well i'm still a beginner in japanese, and i've just took the jlpt3.... so well~ ~ ~
and i was thinking about reading japanese stories as an exercise...
so can anyone tell me what he used to read when he was at my stage? and what you think best for me?
so if anyone knows any children stories or even adult but simple one, or any japanese author who writes in a simple language.... please share it with me and with anyone in need ^^
