About the only complaint is it started a bit slow and was way to short. I have always liked WW1 stories and movies. This movie deals with foreign flyers who flew for the French and fought the Germans. The dogfight shots are great and don't look too fake. Typical hero/villains with a bit of love story thrown in type movie, worth the price to see it for sure. Must have taken nerve to fly back then before parachutes came into use.

If the movie comes 'round here--or the DVD later--I'll watch it because I love that sensation and emotion of 'flying by the seat of the pants' idea. I think I'd love to have one of those machines; although I'd probably take along a fast chute, just in case. You're with the wind, pretty much, and can really feel it I've been told.

There have been a number of small articles in at two of the science magazines I regularly read about the truth behind the Red Barron's record. I recall one authority on the subject saying that shooting at another plane back then, in those machines, was like shooting at a clay pigeon while standing in a hammock--some pilots were a bit more lucky, some who became 'ace' material (at least in the eyes of their commrades) were 'protected' in the air by them, and then did become those big names. . . and so on.
