I also have the tapes for Japanese for Everyone (I think it's a good book, but the tape format really made it a pain to use--- I'd much prefer something digital that I could rip & put on my ipod)... I also think it's a bit dated material...
Still, I really did like the book--- I think it does everything right that a Japanese course work should do (drops roumaji quickly, uses situational grammar), but I think you could do with a better choice these days in either Genki, or (I've read) Minna no nihongo...
Unfortunately the catalog from which I purchased the cassettes (at seventy dollars no less!) is, along with the rest of my Japanese books, still in Japan. I had to order mine from a company in Japan--- I'll see what I can find out though.
