Hi all.

My text book says やまだにははなすべき{では/じゃ}なかった。means shouldn't have told that to (particularly) Yamada. Wouldn't it be more accurate for this translation to be "shouldn't have spoken with" instead of "told that to"?

Ps. Sorry for no kanji, I'm lazy.
 
While ~話す is unilateral, ~話す is mutual. That's why it's translated as "to tell something to~", not "to speak/talk with~" there.
