Sentences with a relative clause 2

Dear native English speakers,

I have made some sentences with relative clauses. Could you check them, please?


1 The fish I ate yesterday was very good.

2 This is the bike I bought last month.

3 Is that the house your father lived in when he was a boy?

4 The man I want to see is Mr.White, not Mr.Black.

5 The music that man is playing is a Beethoven.

6 The book Bob gave to me was very interesting.

7 Is that the new bike you've bought recently?

8 Is this the book you were talking about?

9 This is the pen I usually use.

10 The town I visited last month is Paris.

11a That is the man I met yesterday.
11b That is the man I saw yesterday.

12 This is the book I bought last Sunday.

13 I like the dress you are wearing.

14 The food I ate here was wonderful.

15 Is that the man you are talking about?

16 I like the cookies I ate at Tom's house yesterday.

17 The place I want to visit is Central Park.

18 This is a book my uncle wrote.

19 Is that a house your grandfather built? Yes, it is.

20 There are a lot of places you should see in Kyoto .

21 These are some of the fish I caught today.

22 This is the book Mr. White recommends.

23 Is this the book you're looking for?

24 The used bike I bought yesterday is a lemon.

25 The country I want to visit most is Switzerland.

26 This is the house I lived in ten years ago.

27 The dress Mary is wearing is very beautiful.

28 These are some of the photos I took in London.

29 Is that the apartment house your grandfather lives in?

30 A ladybug is the insect I like most.

31a The American woman I teach Japanese is from Seattle.
31b The American woman I teach Japanese to is from Seattle.

32a The movie I saw yesterday was "Pancake".
32b The movie I watched yesterday was "Pancake".

33 The woman you want to see came here this morning.

The only thing I see wrong is that in 10 is should be was, since it is talking about the past. And then in 15 I am going to assume that is a typo where I just see ing. I assume you meant to type talking instead, if that is the case it is correct.

For 24 a car is more often a lemon; mostly because I assume it would be easy to spot something wrong with a bike before you buy it. Also I would use "recently" instead of "yesterday."

also 31a is off. If you want to omit the "to" then I suggest: "The American woman (to) whom I teach Japanese is from Seattle."

On number (5) , you can leave out the "a" after is or leave the "a" in and add on the end of the sentence the word "piece".

Do you mean you rarely say "This bike is a lemon"?

Would it be all right to say "The used bike I bought recently is a lemon"?
Or should I use "was" instead of "is"?

OK. The sentence would sound formal by using "whom", wouldn't it?

Does "The music that man is playing is a Beethoven piece" sound more natural?
